Overview
The Aviation team at AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to join our Global Technology Centre (GTC) in Mumbai. The primary purpose of this role is to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and deliver complex airport infrastructure projects across airside and landside environments for clients in the UK, Middle East, Canada, and the United States.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and delivering projects through all stages of the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and option assessments through detailed design and construction support. The role requires strong technical leadership, project management expertise, and a thorough understanding of aviation engineering standards to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant airport operations.
Your role
- Responsible for technical planning, design, and delivery of airport airside and landside infrastructure projects across all project phases, from feasibility and concept development through detailed design and construction support. Provide subject matter expertise in airport facility development and establish engineering standards, specifications, and best practices.
- Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation, technical presentations, bid support, and client engagement initiatives.
- Manage project delivery by developing project schedules, resource plans, and budget forecasts. Monitor project progress, quality, risks, and overall performance to ensure successful delivery within agreed timelines, budget, and quality objectives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable aviation regulations, industry standards, and client requirements, including ICAO, FAA, EASA, DGCA, and other relevant international and regional standards.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, designers, consultants, and contractors, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams within the GTC and across global offices and project stakeholders. Responsible for design reviews, value engineering studies, constructability assessments, and technical assurance processes to optimize project outcomes.
- Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, reports, specifications, and technical documentation, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
- Identify and manage technical, operational, and project risks while implementing appropriate mitigation strategies to support safe and efficient airport operations.
- Support the continuous improvement of engineering processes, technical standards, and digital delivery practices across the Aviation business.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Airport Engineering. Master's degree in Transportation, Aviation, or Airport Planning (preferred).
- 10-15+ years of experience in airport planning, airfield design, or aviation infrastructure projects. Experience in international airport projects is desirable but not preferred.
- Strong knowledge of aviation regulations and airport operational requirements.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and external contractors.
