Description

About the role

At BOQ Group, risk isn't just about managing potential challenges. It's about enabling our business to grow confidently, make better decisions, and deliver great outcomes for our customers and communities.

We're looking for a Senior Analyst Line 1 Risk to join our team on a max term contract until August 2027. You will play an important role in strengthening risk management practices across the organisation. Working closely with business stakeholders, Group Risk, Compliance teams, and senior leaders, you'll provide trusted advice and practical guidance that helps teams navigate risk, strengthen controls, and meet regulatory obligations.

This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional risk management and become a genuine business partner. You'll support risk assessments, contribute to risk profiles, help shape control design, provide insights that inform decision-making, and influence how risk is considered throughout business change and transformation initiatives. Whether you're identifying emerging risks, supporting key projects, or helping leaders understand their risk obligations, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day.

At BOQ Group, we're proud to be big enough to offer the breadth, complexity, and career opportunities of a leading financial services organisation, while remaining small enough for your work to be visible, valued, and influential. You'll work alongside passionate and supportive colleagues who genuinely care about doing the right thing, creating better outcomes, and continuously improving the way we work.

This is a role for someone who enjoys thinking strategically, solving problems, partnering with stakeholders, and helping build a strong and proactive risk culture. You'll be joining an organisation undergoing exciting transformation, where you'll have the opportunity to contribute to initiatives that shape the future of banking while ensuring risk remains at the heart of every decision.

About you

You're a curious and commercially minded risk professional who understands that effective risk management is about enabling great outcomes, not creating barriers. You enjoy building relationships, working collaboratively, and helping stakeholders navigate complex challenges with practical and balanced advice.

You'll bring experience in risk management within financial services or a similarly regulated environment, along with a strong understanding of risk frameworks, controls, governance, and regulatory expectations. You're comfortable analysing information, identifying trends and opportunities, investigating root causes, and translating complex concepts into clear and actionable recommendations.

You thrive in environments where no two days are the same and where you can balance competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail. You're naturally analytical, enjoy working with data and insights, and can confidently engage with stakeholders across different parts of the business. Whether you're supporting risk in change assessments, contributing to control improvements, managing issues and treatment plans, or providing guidance on risk management practices, you're motivated by adding value and helping teams succeed.

You'll likely have experience in risk management, financial services, compliance, operational risk, technology risk, cybersecurity risk, financial crime operations, or a related discipline. Just as importantly, you're someone who enjoys collaborating with others, embraces continuous learning, and wants to contribute to a culture where accountability, innovation, and customer outcomes go hand in hand.
