Reporting to the Controller, Senior Lead, Investment Accounting is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial information for the family office and related entities. This role owns the accounting cycle, coordinates month-end and year-end close activities, and supports the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and analyses.
Beyond technical accounting responsibilities, the successful candidate will serve as a trusted business partner by providing financial insights, identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies, strengthening internal controls, and leading process improvement initiatives. This position requires a hands-on professional who is equally comfortable managing accounting details and contributing to strategic discussions.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING | THE ROLE
Key responsibilities include:
Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations :
- Lead and oversee the full accounting cycle for family office entities.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure the integrity of financial records.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Analyze financial results and investigate unusual variances and trends.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other professional service providers.
Management Reporting & Financial Insights
- Prepare management reports and dashboards for family members, executives, and other stakeholders.
- Develop key performance indicators in collaboration with the investment team.
- Provide actionable recommendations to improve financial performance and operational effectiveness.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
- Process Improvement & Internal Controls
- Evaluate existing accounting and finance processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Actively lead initiatives to automate manual activities and improve efficiency.
- Design and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Improve documentation of key financial processes and workflows.
- Participate in system implementations, upgrades, and optimization projects.
- Champion continuous improvement and best practices across finance operations.
- Assist with implementation of new technologies and reporting solutions.
Leadership & Team Support
- Provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to accounting staff.
- Act as the lead project manager of the accounting team.
- Review work completed by team members and ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented finance function.
- Act as backup to the Controller when required.
WHAT YOU BRING | THE PERSON
The ideal candidate has:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting
- CPA designation is an asset
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a similar Accountant role involved with public equities, private equity, hedge funds and/or performance measurement.
- Good understanding of investment products and accounting of investments, including private equity
- Strong ability and experience to identify and resolve accounting issues
- Experience with process and accounting tools optimization
- Highly proficient in Excel
- Keen interest in financial markets
- Prior experience in an ERP implementation, is an asset.
