The Title Examiner Supervisor is located in the Quality Assurance Problem Resolution of Vehicle Services within NC Department of Motor Vehicles. The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Supervise the employee’s workflow within the unit.
• Assist employees with resolving complex work duties.
• Maintain, document, and conduct all phases of performance management.


This Unit is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of vehicle titles and registration applications. The Unit conducts thorough reviews of vehicle title/registration applications and documents; identify errors created by LPAs, On-Line Dealers, and DMV sections/units; provide solution to errors; corresponds with LPAs, On-Line Dealers, DMV sections/units, and the general public to correct errors regarding the processing of vehicle titles and registration. The Unit processes refund requests for license plates that have been surrendered to the DMV. Ensure the correct Highway Use Tax has been paid; ensure the Federal Heavy Highway Use Tax has been paid; processes Indemnity Bonds, court orders, judicial sales, abandoned vehicles, mechanics/storage liens, and expedited sales; respond to telephone calls from dealers, branch offices, customers and other DMV Units; reviewing and correcting scanned documents that did not image properly; identifying the problem relating to why documents were not scanned/imaged correctly, determining the solution, and taking action to resolve the problem.

The program area for this position includes one or more of the following: working knowledge of motor vehicle laws, policies and procedures, working knowledge of vehicle tiles and registration processes, and/or experience troubleshooting problems related document scanning.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC10 $43,267 - $75,718

Management prefers applicants with the following:

• Knowledge of motor vehicle laws, policies and procedures
• Experience in researching and resolving problems to make independent decisions when needed
• Experience in interpreting and explaining policy and procedures, rules, regulations, and/or laws to a diverse clientele
• Experience in establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with peers, internal and external customers while maintaining a professional demeanor
• Experience in maintaining records, reports and data using MS Office products.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
