Eaton’s Power Distribution and Control Assemblies Division is currently seeking an Applications Engineer to join its team at our Arden, NC location. This exciting opportunity provides responsibility for supporting the development of engineered solutions for medium voltage control assemblies and related motor control applications while supporting customers throughout the project lifecycle. The role also provides opportunities to work on special development and application projects, conduct technical training seminars, troubleshoot field problems, and support product and customer Witness Tests.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $97,000 - $143,000 a year.

## What you’ll do:

The MVCA Applications Engineer serves as the technical authority for medium voltage control assemblies and related motor control solutions. This role is responsible for evaluating customer requirements, interpreting specifications, developing engineered solutions, and providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle. The Applications Engineer works closely with customers, field sales, Customer Order Engineering (COE), manufacturing, purchasing, quality, aftermarket, and product engineering teams to ensure customer requirements are met while maintaining compliance with Eaton standards, industry codes, and business objectives. The position requires strong technical expertise in medium voltage motor control systems, protection and control schemes, power distribution equipment, and customer application support.

  • Review customer specifications, drawings, and technical requirements.
  • Support development of engineered solutions for MVCA products including full-voltage starters, reduced-voltage starters, autotransformer starters, reactor starters, and specialty motor control applications.
  • Identify specification conflicts, technical risks, and non-standard requirements early in the order cycle.
  • Provide recommendations that balance customer requirements with Eaton standards and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Support field sales engineers and customers during project development and execution.
  • You will assist plant and field sales engineers in interpreting and defining new equipment applications; coordinating mechanical and electrical interfaces with other products; assisting technicians, manufacturing, and purchasing, as needed, in interpreting information for the accurate production of equipment.
  • You will conduct a variety of special development/application projects, working directly with customers on applications and projects, and conducting technical training seminars.
  • You will provide technical support to clients after the sale of the product, troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Support product testing protocol development and execution with the product line Testers and support, from a technical standpoint, customer Witness Tests on the shop floor.
  • You will perform other projects and duties as assigned.

## Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in an industrial setting and manufacturing environment
  • No relocation assistance will be provided for this role. Candidates must currently reside within 75 miles of Arden, NC to be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of electrical experience in associated power distribution and control systems.
  • Green/Yellow Belt Six Sigma certification

Position Success Criteria:

  • Detailed experience and knowledge of control and logic functions is required as well as excellent problem solving skills for analyzing field problems and strong awareness of larger team/department strategies and customer needs.
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills are required.
  • Excellent computer skills required in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access) as well as AutoCAD.
  • Position requires some travel, the desire to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty, and a “can-do” attitude.

Problem Solving:

  • Take detailed non-standard purchaser requirements and translate them, as closely as possible into previously established standards. This may require direct contact with the purchaser to assure meeting the intent of their requirements.
  • Interpret detailed written descriptions of operating sequences and convert them to control and protection schematics. This requires a detailed knowledge of control and logic functions.
  • Analyze field problems, as required. This may require much research into history of a project, making written documentation a critical job element. Field visits may be required.

Skills of Persuasion:

  • Persuade purchasers to follow established departmental standards that meet the intent of their requirements in lieu of the purchaser’s non-standard specifics.
