Location: Polanco, CDMX
As an Automation Engineer, you will own the deployment and integration of real-time power management and SCADA solutions at such as utilities, industrial facilities, data centers, oil & gas and critical infrastructure clients across The Americas and internationally. You will work hands-on with one of the most technically advanced power systems platforms available today — configuring, commissioning, and delivering projects end-to-end for English-speaking clients across the US, Middle East, India, and Asia.
This is a mid-level role for an engineer who is ready to stop doing the same project repeatedly and start building depth across a genuinely complex and varied portfolio. You will have direct proximity to the product teams behind the platform you deploy — something no third-party integrator can offer. If you are looking for a role where your technical decisions matter and your exposure grows faster than it would in a specialized position, this is that role.
Responsibilities - You will do:
Own end-to-end deployment and integration of ETAP Real-Time solutions including Power Management Systems, Electrical SCADA, and Digital Twin implementations
Lead client-facing technical communication including project scope definition, delivery updates, and commissioning handover
Configure and integrate RTU and field device communication using standard industrial protocols including Modbus, DNP3, IEC 104, IEC 61850, and OPC UA
Program and configure RTUs and field controllers using IEC 61131-3 languages including Structured Text and Function Block Diagrams
Connect to and manage protective relays including settings file retrieval, configuration, and database management for asset management projects
Design and develop electrical HMI graphics representing client power systems, substations, and control schemes
Build and maintain one-line diagram models representing client electrical networks
Independently troubleshoot and resolve SCADA communication, HMI, and power management issues before escalating
Perform and lead functional testing, commissioning, and client training at project sites across The Americas and internationally
Identify and communicate project risks, technical blockers, and scope changes proactively to project management
Informally support and guide junior engineers on technical tasks and project delivery standards
Requirements - You need to have:
Advanced English proficiency (C1 or higher) — while this position is based in Mexico, the majority of clients span the US, Middle East, India, and Asia
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience delivering electrical SCADA or power monitoring projects using platforms such as Schneider Power Monitoring Expert, Survalent, GE GridSolutions, or similar
Demonstrated experience building HMI graphics and configuring device communication within an electrical SCADA or power monitoring environment
Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Modbus and DNP3 — point mapping, device configuration, and basic troubleshooting are expected
Practical experience with industrial networking including IP addressing and communication architecture for automation systems
Strong computer proficiency with hands-on experience configuring systems, managing software environments, and troubleshooting technical issues independently
Foundational understanding of electrical power distribution and substation automation concepts sufficient to read a single-line diagram and explain basic system behavior to a client operator
A Plus to have:
Experience with OPC UA or IEC 61850 MMS for third-party system integration
Programming experience using IEC 61131-3 languages, specifically Structured Text or Function Block Diagrams, for RTU or PLC automation applications
Basic familiarity with protective relays and IEDs including connecting to devices and retrieving settings or event records
Exposure to IEC 61850 GOOSE messaging in a substation automation context
Field commissioning experience on substation automation or power monitoring projects
Experience with ADMS, EMS, or Distribution Management Systems
