Starting Pay: $14.28-$22.61/hr. (based on level of education)
About the Role
As a Floating Teacher Assistant at Pathfinder, you'll help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where young children can learn, grow, and feel supported. You'll work alongside teachers, families, and the ELC team while floating between classrooms to provide consistent support and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for children.
As a Floating Teacher Assistant at Pathfinder, You Will:
Learning & Classroom Support
- Follow classroom lesson plans and provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Support hands-on activities that encourage children's learning, development, and growth.
- Follow individualized and multicultural programming designed to meet children's unique needs.
- Use the Conscious Discipline curriculum to help children develop social-emotional skills and positive coping strategies.
- Provide a consistent and predictable daily routine while adapting to the needs of each classroom.
Child Development & Family Partnership
- Support teachers with observing and assessing children's development.
- Share appropriate information with families and help build positive partnerships around children's care and development.
- Work cooperatively with teachers, substitutes, coworkers, and families to create a positive learning environment.
- Provide responsive physical care while following individual child needs and Indiana Child Care Licensing Guidelines.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow Indiana Child Care Licensing Guidelines, NAEYC standards, and Paths to Quality requirements.
- Help maintain a classroom environment that supports children's health, safety, and well-being.
- Follow positive discipline practices and required classroom procedures and postings.
- Implement classroom safety and emergency procedures, including CPR and First Aid when needed.
- Maintain required annual professional development related to Early Childhood Development.
Teamwork & Professional Growth
- Float between classrooms and adjust to changing staffing and classroom needs.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and assigned committees.
- Maintain accurate documentation and complete required administrative responsibilities.
- Pursue professional growth opportunities and share knowledge and resources with coworkers.
- Use sound judgment, organization, and teamwork in daily responsibilities.

Requirements
Preferred Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED and ability to obtain a CDA within four months of hire
- At least 18 years of age.
- Basic language, written and computer skills necessary for communication and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to support people with disabilities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, if needed.
- Ability to speak, hear, and read the English language.
- Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance required.
