As a Legal Operations Manager, you will be a key member of the Business Service Operations Legal team, providing legal and contracting support to stakeholders across China. Your primary focus will be supporting our factory operations in Jiaxing.

You will partner with colleagues across the business to provide clear, practical legal guidance, support contracting activity and help manage legal and commercial risk in a way that enables progress.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded legal professional who enjoys working close to the business, solving problems together and improving how legal support is delivered.

Based in Shanghai, with a requirement to work at the LEGO Manufacturing Jiaxing for at least one day per week.

Core responsibilities, agreements and legal operations support

  • Act as a trusted Legal Operations contact for LEGO Manufacturing Jiaxing and key business stakeholders in China, with primary support for factory operations and business priorities.
  • Provide practical, commercially focused and risk-balanced legal guidance, translating legal topics into simple, actionable advice for non-legal colleagues.
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, working closely with stakeholders to support timely, effective and business-friendly outcomes.
  • Advise on agreement risks, obligations and options, and help stakeholders manage obligations through the agreement lifecycle.
  • Partner with teams across Operations, Procurement and related business functions to identify, assess and help manage legal and commercial risk in a clear and pragmatic way.
  • Help ensure agreements, approvals, legal records and contractual documentation are aligned with applicable laws, company policies and internal governance requirements.
  • Support corporate secretarial matters, related governance activities and compliance with applicable Chinese laws and regulations as needed.
  • Look for opportunities to simplify, standardise and improve legal processes, workflows, templates, guidance and ways of working.
  • Contribute to legal technology, automation, digitalisation, reporting, data quality, metrics and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with and share knowledge across China, APAC and the global Legal organisation where specialist or cross-border input is needed.

Do you have what it takes?

Essential qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in law or an equivalent recognised legal qualification.
  • Qualified lawyer admitted to practise in China.
  • Fluent Mandarin Chinese is essential.
  • Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
  • At least 7-10 years of relevant post-qualification legal experience gained in a law firm, multinational organisation or comparable business environment.
  • Strong commercial legal experience, ideally with exposure to manufacturing, procurement, supply chain or operational environments.
  • Excellent understanding of Chinese contract, commercial and regulatory laws relevant to business operations.

Preferred experience

  • Experience working in a multinational, manufacturing, consumer goods or supply chain-focused organisation.
  • Experience supporting business operations in China within an international or matrixed environment.
  • Experience collaborating with regional and global Legal teams.
  • Experience with legal operations, process improvement, contract lifecycle management or legal technology is an advantage.
