Job Description Summary
The Senior Manager, Total Rewards – United States and Canada (USCAN) responsible for the delivery of compensation programs and related total rewards policies and processes across the region. This role partners with HR, business, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to deliver market-competitive, equitable, compliant, scalable, and financially sustainable programs that support talent and business priorities.This is a people-leader role reporting to the Global Total Rewards Solution and Partnership Leader. The position combines strategic business partnership, program design, operational excellence, and team leadership. The role also serves as the Total Rewards partner for assigned business segments, advising leaders on key rewards and compensation matters.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the design, governance, and evolution of base salary, variable compensation, and incentive programs across the United States and Canada, ensuring alignment with business strategy, talent priorities, market dynamics, and global Total Rewards principles.
- Serve as the Total Rewards Business Partner for assigned business segments, advising business and HR leaders on Total Rewards strategies that support business performance, workforce plans, talent priorities and organizational change.
- Support the application and maintenance of job architecture, including job families, sub-families, career levels, job profiles, job evaluation, levelling and providing strategic guidance for new and evolving roles, organizational changes, complex cases, and exceptions while ensuring consistent application and preserving the integrity of the global framework across the USCAN, and assigned global business segments.
- Partner with Finance on compensation budgets, forecasts, cost modelling, workforce-planning assumptions, and the financial implications of Total Rewards recommendations.
- Identify and recommend improvements to Total Rewards operating processes, tools, service standards, and ways of working to improve efficiency, consistency, and colleague experience
- Support compliance and governance requirements across the United States and Canadian jurisdictions, in partnership with Legal, Tax, Payroll, and other subject-matter experts.
- Lead selected workstreams and support regional or global Total Rewards initiatives, partnering with business, regional, and functional stakeholders to deliver outcomes
- Support M&A-related Total Rewards activities, including due diligence inputs, cost modelling, role mapping, job levelling analysis, program comparison, and integration planning support.
- Lead, coach, and develop the USCAN Total Rewards team, establishing clear priorities, accountabilities, performance expectations, and development plans.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in total rewards, including substantial experience supporting employee populations in both the United States and Canada.
- In-depth knowledge of compensation practices, laws, and regulations across United States and Canada.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex compensation programs.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate technical total rewards concepts into clear business recommendations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated people-leadership experience, including coaching, developing, and setting priorities for team members.
- Experience in the Life Sciences, Healthcare or Pharmaceutical or High-Tech industries
- Experience responsibly applying AI-enabled tools to analytics, Power BI or comparable data-visualization and business-intelligence tools in scenario modelling, workflow automation, decision support, or employee communications.
