As a Custom Software Engineer, a typical day involves developing tailored software solutions by designing, coding, and improving various components within systems or applications. The role requires working with modern frameworks and following agile methodologies to ensure the delivery of scalable and high-performing software that meets unique business requirements. Collaboration with different teams and continuous enhancement of software components are integral parts of the daily routine, fostering innovation and efficiency in software development processes.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Expected to be an SME, collaborate and manage the team to perform.
- Responsible for team decisions.

- Provide solutions to problems for their immediate team and across multiple teams.
- Lead efforts to identify and implement process improvements that enhance team productivity and software quality.

- Coordinate cross-functional communication to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Configure automated build, test, scan, package, deploy, rollback, and promotion workflows.
- Integrate CI/CD pipelines for React UI, Spring Boot/FastAPI services, Kafka consumers, Agent Integration services, and ServiceNow/Audit connectors.
- Ensure pipeline stages generate evidence for build, test, scan, deployment, and approval gates.
- Support branch strategy, environment promotion, quality gates, and rollback controls.
- Implement pipeline templates and reusable workflows for consistent delivery across services.
- Infrastructure as Code and Deployment Automation
- Build infrastructure automation using Terraform.
- Package and deploy Kubernetes/container workloads using Helm.
- Support deployment to AWS EKS or ECS.
- Manage environment-specific configurations for DEV, UAT, and PROD.
- Support infrastructure handover documentation and runbooks.
- Automate provisioning for application services, security controls, observability components, secrets, and deployment configurations.
- DevSecOps and Security Scanning
- Integrate security scans into CI/CD pipelines using Veracode or equivalent.
- Configure and support: SAST scans, DAST scans, SCA / open-source dependency scans, Container image scans, IaC scans
- Ensure security findings are captured, triaged, tracked, and remediated.
- Define security gate criteria for critical/high findings.
- Work with developers to resolve vulnerabilities before release promotion.
- Support secure coding, dependency governance, and vulnerability management practices.
Cloud Runtime and Environment Support
- Support deployment of Akura platform services on AWS EKS/ECS.
- Configure container runtime settings, autoscaling, health checks, service discovery, and rollout strategies.
- Support integration with AWS Secrets Manager, IAM, CloudWatch, S3, RDS/PostgreSQL, and Amazon MSK where applicable.
- Ensure environments are secured, isolated, observable, and deployment-ready.
- Support cloud deployment troubleshooting and release issue resolution.
- Secrets, Access, and Security Controls
- Implement secrets handling using approved vault/secrets-management patterns.
- Support IAM, least-privilege access, service credentials, and environment-specific secret management.
- Ensure no credentials are embedded in application code or deployment manifests.
- Support API security integration with gateway, OAuth/OIDC, TLS, and certificate controls where required.
- Work with the Solution Architect and Security stakeholders to enforce secure deployment patterns.
- Observability and Operational Readiness Support
- Enable deployment of observability agents, OpenTelemetry collectors, CloudWatch dashboards, and Grafana dashboards where applicable.
- Ensure release pipelines publish deployment metadata and traceability.
- Support logs, metrics, traces, and deployment health checks.
- Support operational runbooks for release, rollback, vulnerability triage, and production support.
- Audit, Compliance, and Evidence
- Ensure pipeline and deployment events generate auditable evidence.
- Store release evidence, scan results, approval records, and deployment history as required.
- Support audit requirements around quality gates, security exceptions, force promotion, rollback, and approvals.
- Work with Audit and QA teams to ensure release evidence is available for sprint acceptance and handover.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in DevOps.
- Good To Have Skills: Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps.
- Strong knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines.
- Experience with infrastructure as code and automation tools.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies.
- Ability to monitor and optimize system performance and reliability.
- Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions.
- Strong experience with Terraform.
- Experience with Helm and containerized deployments.
- Experience deploying applications on AWS EKS or ECS.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD for microservices.
- Experience integrating security scans into build/release pipelines.
- Working knowledge of SAST, DAST, and SCA tools, preferably Veracode.
- Docker/containerization experience.
- Good understanding of AWS IAM, networking, secrets, logging, and deployment security.
- Experience supporting deployment promotion, rollback, and release governance.
- Strong troubleshooting and production-support mindset.
- Amazon MSK / Kafka deployment or integration exposure.
- OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, or Loki exposure.
- Veracode implementation experience.
- Kubernetes security and pod security policy experience.
- GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux.
- ServiceNow change/release workflow integration.
- Guidewire or insurance platform exposure.
- API gateway/Kong/AWS API Gateway deployment experience.
- Experience with audit-heavy or regulated enterprise environments.
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 7.5 years of experience in DevOps.
