JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Office of Physical Security is seeking applicants for a Temporary Part-Time Camera Operator to support University Police & Public Safety during the 2026 home football season. This position is responsible for monitoring and operating the campus video management system throughout home football games and related events, providing real-time situational awareness and camera support to law enforcement personnel.
This is a temporary, event-based position requiring availability for all 2026 home football games, including pre-game, game, and post-game operations.
Job duties to include:
Operate and control security cameras during home football games and related events.
Monitor live video feeds and provide real time information to University Police and Public Safety personnel.
Track incidents and assist with locating individuals, vehicles, and areas of interest as directed.
Maintain situational awareness while supporting emergency and routine operations.
Communicate effectively with command staff.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and law enforcement activities.
Follow established operational procedures and complete all required documentation.
Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to remain focused in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
Strong communication and computer skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
Prior experience with video surveillance systems or security monitoring.
Experience working in public safety, law enforcement, security, or emergency management.
Familiarity with video management systems such as Victor or similar platforms.
NOTE: This position requires extended periods of sitting while actively monitoring multiple computer screens. The employee must be able to maintain concentration for long periods and respond quickly to changing situations. Shifts may exceed 10-12 hours depending on operational needs.
Schedule:
Must be available to work all Penn State home football games during the 2026 season.
Compensation:
The starting rate for this job is $25/hr.
