Job Description Summary:

ACC Student: To provide specialized services and support to the departmental office or program.

Job Description:

The social media specialist will support the college's Office of College Relations & Marketing to create and distribute engaging content in various formats across multiple social media channels to enhance the college's image and brand and engage with our multicultural audiences to drive digital follower expansion.

Description of Duties and Tasks

  • Works with the Office of College Relations & Marketing to support the district’s social media presence.

  • Attends campus activities and events to capture live social media content and optimize promotional opportunities for the college.

  • Engages and builds ACC’s presence amongst the ACC and community-at-large by driving brand awareness and growing ACC’s reach to its multicultural audiences. 

  • Assists in supporting the ACC District social media content calendar for all major platforms, curating content to each channel, following best practice guidelines. 

  • Supports live events and conversations on social media platforms to facilitate engaging, two-way conversations.  

  • Assists in creating original and engaging social media content that fits ACC’s mission and values. 

  • Tracks emerging trends, communities, and platforms and recommends engagement where relevant for the department and college.

  • Supports office activities and events in ways that can increase ACC awareness and user engagement (tabling, account takeovers, giveaway campaigns, contests, etc).

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of major social media platforms, including but not limited to — X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, and LinkedIn.

  • Familiarity and working knowledge of social media efficiency tools.

  • Demonstrate effective customer service and communication techniques. 

  • Demonstrate proficiency in using current social media platforms, scheduling tools, graphic design applications, standard word processing, databases, and virtual platforms (such as Google Meet and Zoom).

  • Maintain an adaptive & cooperative work schedule. 

  • Represent the college with professionalism and diplomacy.

Skills

  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

  • Maintaining an established work schedule.

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.

  • Effectively using strong interpersonal and communication skills, including tact and diplomacy.

  • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.

  • Use social media platforms and work with simple graphic design programs (primarily Canva).

Other Requirements

  • Reliable Transportation.

  • Driving between ACC Campus locations will be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is routinely performed in a standard campus, office, or similar environment.

  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.

  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 25 pounds.

Safety

  • Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
