Major Moves Coordinator

Job Description

We offer a competitive salary for this role, with an expected range of $72,000 – $91,300/yr. The final offer will depend on your experience, skills, and overall qualifications. The Major Moves Coordinator under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Safety Leadership:

• Developing and maintaining daily and weekly moves plan(s) in a safe manner
  • Move sheet by 6am by generating accurate sequence of unit moves

Poject Execution:

• Development and execution of shipyard unit storage plan(s)
  • Ensure requested units are ready to move prior to listing on sheet
  • Confirm storage areas are clear for unit
  • Evaluate need for support services and arrange if necessary
  • Communicate schedule and plans between areas and Transporters
  • Specify orientation of unit into station

Training and Development:

• Developing laydown and unit station sketches
  • Verify limits and specifications of units into stations
  • Establish blocking plans and if and who is needed for support

Continuous Improvement:

• Understand schedule
  • Mitigate relocating units as must as possible
    • If relocation is necessary, have a location plan and clear pathway
    • Maintain AB Roadway
    • If ice or water is involved, arrange pumping & thawing of unit
  • Ensure COT/Pad Tour is complete before it is listed on Major Moves List

A Week in the life would look like this:

• 0630 Daily move sheet shall be issued
• By COB Thursdays the following weeks move sheet IE: POW will be complete 
• NLT Friday complete all product move package folders (I&A’s, LPS Sheets, Blocking plans, 10-201’s, station Sketches and Beaming Sign-off’s.
• Develop and maintain Product locations and sequence
• Engage with Area Management on product readiness
• Maintain and police Main Shipyard travel paths
• Attain working knowledge of floorplans
• Ensure products in storage are ready to move (Ice, Snow Rain water, Road obstructions)
• Interface with 2nd and 3rd shifts move supervision

Required/Preferred Education/Training

• Bachelor's Degree or above preferred.
• High School Diploma, GED, or Associates Degree will be considered in lieu of meeting full experience requirement if combined with relevant trades and/or manufacturing experience. 

Required/Preferred Experience

• 5 years' experience in Shipbuilding or related manufacturing industry required for those without a Bachelor's Degree.
• Background in, and an all-around working knowledge of, shipbuilding is preferred.
• Previous project management experience is preferred.
• Detailed understanding of shipbuilding processes, procedures and products (specifically large surface ships) preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated strong computer skills is required.
• Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD is preferred for this position. 
• Previous experience with rigging and/or transportation is strongly preferred. 
• Ability to obtain security clearance
