Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a talented CBA – Construction Quality Inspector I to join our team at the Faro Mine Remediation Project. In this role, you will provide oversight, monitoring, and control of subcontractors working on construction sites. 

This position operates on a rotational schedule of two weeks on and two weeks off, with 12-hour shifts. 

Employees receive a LOA allowance and are responsible for providing their own meals. 

This position is covered by the United Steelworkers Local 925 collective bargaining agreement. The hourly wage is $33.80 

What You'll Be Doing: 

  • Assist in applying principles, methods, and techniques of construction technology.  
  • Review project specifications and coordinate with appropriate personnel regarding plan preparation, acceptance testing, field conditions, design changes, and required reports. 
  • Inspect and monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with contract requirements, specifications, drawings, and applicable standards. 
  • Ensure contractors comply with approved health, safety, and environmental plans. 
  • Oversee the quality assurance and quality control activities performed by contractors. 
  • Verify that quality control plans are followed and witness, verify, and approve work in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans. 
  • Coordinate testing requirements with contractors and independent third-party testing agencies. 
  • Communicate effectively with construction subcontractors assigned to each project. 
  • Participate in Contractor Acceptance Inspections as required. 
  • Maintain a construction diary documenting the status of assigned tasks. 
  • Prepare and submit weekly progress reports and participate in weekly construction meetings. 
  • Communicate daily with the MCM Superintendent. 
  • Conduct inspections to confirm compliance with contract documents, technical drawings, and specifications. 
  • Review contractor schedules and monitor progress. 
  • Escort contractors as required. 
  • Identify potential construction issues and recommend appropriate resolutions. 
  • Document daily construction progress through written reports and photographs. 
  • Assist in evaluating Contemplated Change Notices and claims, providing recommendations to the Project Manager or MCM Superintendent. 
  • Inspect or monitor the installation and testing of Concrete, Masonry, Reinforcing steel, Shotcrete, Structural steel and welding, Fireproofing, Soils and aggregate, Concrete and asphaltic concrete, Grading and related earthwork 
  • Review and approve LEMS on a daily basis. 
  • Prepare daily reports using the Project Management Information System. 
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities related to the position, as assigned. 

What Required Skills You'll Bring: 

  • General knowledge and understanding of construction activities related to one or more of the following: Heavy civil construction, Electrical systems, Mechanical systems, including process and building mechanical, Structural construction, Instrumentation and controls, or HVAC systems. 
  • Construction field experience. 
  • Ability to apply basic engineering techniques and analysis within a relevant discipline, with the flexibility to work across multiple disciplines. 
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and other contract documents and verify that work is constructed accordingly. 
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Construction scheduling software 
  • Ability to understand and apply project specifications, plans, and drawings. 
  • Experience performing quality assurance and quality control functions. 
  • Ability to oversee the activities of multiple subcontractors. 
  • Strong conflict-resolution and communication skills. 
  • Ability to monitor and maintain subcontractor compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable standards. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Ability to operate independently and effectively in field environments. 
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate reports and project documentation. 
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license. 
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg.
