Description
The Wash Bay Associate is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of company trucks, trailers, equipment, and designated wash bay areas. This position helps ensure equipment is clean, sanitary, and ready for daily operations while following company safety, sanitation, and food safety procedures.
Requirements
Essential Functions
- Wash and sanitize the interior and exterior of company trucks and trailers as assigned.
- Remove dirt, debris, food residue, grease, and other materials from equipment and surfaces.
- Operate pressure washers, hoses, sprayers, and other cleaning equipment safely.
- Use cleaning chemicals and sanitizers according to company procedures and manufacturer instructions.
- Sweep, scrub, rinse, and clean truck and trailer floors, walls, doors, and other surfaces.
- Maintain a clean and organized wash bay and surrounding work area.
- Properly dispose of trash, debris, and other waste.
- Inspect cleaned equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards have been met.
- Report damaged equipment, safety hazards, leaks, or other concerns to a supervisor.
- Follow all company safety, SQF, sanitation, and food safety policies and procedures.
- Wear required non-slip shoes
- Assist with other warehouse, sanitation, or general labor duties as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements
Employees must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequently bend, stoop, squat, reach, push, pull, and twist.
- Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Safely climb in and out of trucks and trailers.
- Work around wet and slippery surfaces.
- Work in hot, cold, wet, and changing temperature conditions.
- Safely handle cleaning chemicals and sanitation products while wearing required PPE.
- Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift.
Qualifications
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dependable attendance and ability to report to work as scheduled.
- Ability to safely operate cleaning and wash bay equipment.
- Previous sanitation, warehouse, or commercial vehicle washing experience is preferred but not required.
- Must follow all company safety, sanitation, and food safety requirements.
Work Environment
This position is performed primarily in a wet wash bay environment and may involve exposure to water, cleaning chemicals, varying temperatures, vehicle traffic, noise, and slippery surfaces. Appropriate PPE and safe work practices must be followed at all times.
