Description
We are seeking an experienced Non-Profit Accountant to support the financial operations of a small, community-focused nonprofit organization in the Chicago area. The ideal candidate will have experience with nonprofit accounting, grant reconciliation, and financial reporting while maintaining accurate and organized financial records.
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Responsibilities
- Reconcile bank accounts and financial records.
- Track and reconcile grant funding with organizational expenditures.
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with budgeting.
- Manage general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
- Assist with financial audits and year-end reporting.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting policies and grant requirements.
- Collaborate with leadership regarding financial planning and reporting.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in nonprofit accounting required.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and Aplos Accounting Software is required.
- Experience reconciling grant funding and restricted funds.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience preparing financial statements for nonprofit organizations.
- Knowledge of nonprofit grant management and reporting requirements.
