The Senior Associate Director, Individual Giving is a key fundraiser responsible for driving annual revenue and alumnae participation. This role combines portfolio management with volunteer leadership for designated class years and milestone reunion groups. The Senior Associate Director will serve as the Barnard lead for the college’s major annual giving fundraisers and will coordinate the AABC Annual Giving Committee. The individual will be held accountable for specific dollar and participation targets for assigned areas of responsibility. As part of the Individual Giving team, the Associate Director assists in developing and planning annual giving strategies and cultivation events. The Associate Director is a member of the Barnard Advancement team and reports to the Senior Director of Individual Giving.

Position Summary

The Senior Associate Director, Individual Giving is a key fundraiser responsible for driving annual revenue and alumnae participation. This role combines portfolio management with volunteer leadership for designated class years and milestone reunion groups. The Senior Associate Director will serve as the Barnard lead for the college’s major annual giving fundraisers and will engage and coordinate with the AABC Annual Giving Committee. The individual will be held accountable for specific dollar and participation targets for assigned areas of responsibility. As part of the Individual Giving team, the Associate Director assists in developing and planning annual giving strategies and cultivation events. The Associate Director is a member of the Barnard Advancement team and reports to the Senior Director of Individual Giving.

Key Responsibilities

• Portfolio Management: Actively manage a portfolio of approximately 150 donors/prospects. Develop and execute solicitation strategies to secure unrestricted annual gifts, renew or upgrade donors to leadership annual giving levels, discuss and secure restricted or endowed gifts and planned gifts where appropriate, and thank donors in a meaningful manner.

• Campus Lead, Annual Giving Fundraisers: Manage Giving Day, an annual fundraising initiative held in conjunction with Columbia University, in collaboration with the Senior Director, Individual Giving and serving as Barnard coordinator with the Columbia University team at Columbia.

• Fundraising Strategy: Assist the Senior Director in leading the individual giving team in setting portfolio and class goals to meet annual fundraising targets.

• Volunteer Management: Serve as a department liaison for alumnae fundraising volunteers, helping to recruit and train new volunteers, prepare volunteer and solicitation materials, and assist in setting class dollar and participation goals.

• Administration: Work with the Senior Director of Individual Giving and team members to develop and implement fundraising programs including alumnae committees.

• Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Operations: Work closely with areas across Advancement, particularly Alumnae Relations, Communications and Special Events team members, to meet the Advancement goals. 

Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 5-7 years progressive fundraising experience in higher education or non-profit organization; work with alumnae volunteers.  
• Education: Bachelor’s degree required

Skills: 

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to interact with the public with a high degree of diplomacy, and tact.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Ability to lead, inspire, and encourage a large group of high-impact volunteers.
• Knowledge of the principles of fundraising and a demonstrated track record of success.
• Demonstrated experience using donor databases (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar) and VMS systems (e.g. Give Campus).
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to set clear goals, priorities, and manage time effectively.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with meticulous attention to organization and detail.
• Ability to adhere strictly to rules regarding confidential information.
• Ability and willingness to work outside of standard business hours including some weekends and evenings.
• The highest standards of professionalism and performance as evidenced by collaborative teamwork, initiative, critical thinking, good judgment, consistency of output, and timeliness of follow-through.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the values and mission of Barnard College and higher education.

|Salary Range: $95,000 - $105,000

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
