Hours: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, Monday – Friday, Hours may vary depending on business need.
Pay: $22- $29/hr. + Incentive Pay, DOE
General Summary:
The person in this position is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with realtors and builder partners. 50% of your time would be dedicated to building these relationships. Must meet with potential borrowers and members guiding them through the mortgage process from start to finish. Expected to maintain a loan pipeline, meet mortgage loan production, and branch referral goals set by management and regularly communicate with borrowers. Will originate high quality mortgage loans and follow through with the entire loan process to assure a positive member experience. What you’ll do:
- Call on Real Estate agents and builders and other sources to develop a network of referral partners.
- Originates mortgage loans to meet individual & department production goals.
- Must Originate a minimum of $1,000,000 or 5 loans per month.
- Consults with members on the advantages and disadvantages of various mortgage products to help determine the best option for each member’s financial situation. Set proper expectations of loan process including time frame.
- Communicates with all parties on a regular basis. Monitor overall customer interaction and interfaces with all parties involved on each individual loan from application until closing.
- Focus on marketing and promotional strategies to attract new purchase business, promoting a broad spectrum of mortgage products.
- Develops expertise on mortgage products offered by the credit union as well as secondary market and in-house products including loan pricing, compliance disclosures, qualifications, and documentation requirements.
- Evaluates documentation provided by the borrowers to ensure qualification of secondary market purchase or in-house guidelines. Works closely with member and processing department to complete files for approval.
- Accurate at loan pricing and fee disclosures.
- Services existing credit union members needs.
- Continually study and stay current on new mortgage lending guidelines, regulations, market updates and loan programs. Continue to expand knowledge of issues influencing the industry.
- Completes required training and licensing to assure compliance with all mortgage regulations.
- Work incoming assigned mortgage applications from the internet, phone call inquiries, walk ins and branch referrals from relationships cultivated by the MC2.
- Proactively creates opportunities to talk to potential mortgage borrowers in the branches, at events and using outbound calling lists.
- Identifies opportunities for referrals back to the branches including HELOC, auto, credit Cards, savings, etc.
- Understands the Bank Secrecy Act and how it is applied.

Requirements
The experience you need to succeed:
- Preferred 1-3 years loan origination experience.
- Current NMLS Licensing.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Be able to work effectively with the public in person, via the phone, and email. Must be professional and able to handle a high pressure fast paced changing environment.
- Strong listening, marketing, relationship-building, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of mortgage products and rates both within the Credit Union and industry overall.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- High integrity and confidentiality.
- Must have High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
- Proficient with standard office business machinery and software.
- Working knowledge to Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Works in office and field environment locations. This includes but is not limited to various outdoor and indoor climates, public venues, and driving conditions.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly need to: see, talk, hear, and perform repetitive movements with arms, hands and fingers to handle, feel, grasp and reach. A computer, phone -including a smart phone, and standard office equipment are normal tools for this position. Specific vision abilities that may be required by this job include close vision and distance vision. The employee may at times also need to: climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
