The Lead Environmental Services Technician provides leadership and daily support to the Environmental Services team while performing cleaning and sanitation duties throughout the hospital. This position helps ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and staff. The Lead Environmental Services Technician serves as a resource for team members, assists with training and work assignments, and supports compliance with infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service in a healthcare environment.
- Perform routine and specialized cleaning of patient rooms, surgical areas, public spaces, offices, and clinical departments.
- Lead daily work activities of Environmental Services staff and assist with scheduling and work assignments.
- Provide training, coaching, and support to new and existing team members.
- Monitor work quality and ensure departmental cleaning standards are consistently met.
- Assist in maintaining adequate inventory levels of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
- Conduct inspections of assigned areas and address cleanliness or safety concerns promptly.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of regulated waste, biohazardous materials, and recyclable materials.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, and carpet extraction equipment.
- Respond to emergency cleaning situations, spills, and infection prevention needs.
- Complete required documentation, inspections, and quality assurance reports.
- Collaborate with nursing, facilities, and other departments to support hospital operations.
- Promote compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention procedures, safety regulations, and departmental standards.
- Assist leadership with orientation, performance feedback, and workflow coordination.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent desired
- Environmental services, housekeeping, custodial, or healthcare cleaning experience required.
- Experience with infection prevention and healthcare cleaning standards.
- Floor care experience, including buffing, stripping, waxing, and carpet maintenance
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Ability to train and mentor team members effectively.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Commitment to patient safety, infection prevention, and service excellence.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
