Plymouth State University is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to serve as an Assistant Coach for Women's Ice Hockey. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to support all aspects of the women's ice hockey program, including recruiting, player development, team preparation, game management, and fostering a positive and competitive team culture.

The successful candidate will be committed to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes and will serve as a positive representative of Plymouth State University and its women's ice hockey program.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach with the overall organization, administration, and day-to-day operations of the women's ice hockey program.

  • Assist with planning and conducting practices, skill-development sessions, team meetings, and game preparation.

  • Provide individualized instruction and feedback to student-athletes to support technical, tactical, physical, and mental development.

  • Assist with recruiting prospective student-athletes, including identifying, evaluating, communicating with, and building relationships with recruits and their families.

  • Assist with scouting opponents and developing game plans and strategies.

  • Support game-day operations, including bench responsibilities, line management, special teams, and in-game adjustments.

  • Help establish and maintain a positive team culture centered on accountability, respect, competitiveness, leadership, and academic success.

  • Monitor and support the academic progress, personal development, and overall well-being of student-athletes.

  • Assist with team travel, scheduling, equipment, fundraising, alumni engagement, camps/clinics, and other program-related activities as assigned.

  • Maintain strong relationships with campus partners, alumni, parents, prospective student-athletes, coaches, and members of the local hockey community.

  • Represent Plymouth State University and the women's ice hockey program professionally and in accordance with University, conference, NCAA, and institutional policies.

Requirements:

  • Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience in ice hockey.

  • Strong knowledge of hockey fundamentals, systems, tactics, and player development.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching staff.

Compensation Pay Range:

$15/hour
