Arcadis is looking for a Junior Bridge Design Coordinator to join our growing team in Toronto.

In this capacity, you will assist in the design and evaluation of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other structures related to transportation infrastructure. You will collaborate with experienced engineers to contribute to new bridge design and rehabilitation initiatives, while enhancing your skills in inspections, investigations, calculations, and technical documentation. Additionally, you will coordinate with design team members, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams, monitoring project activities, deliverables, and schedules.

This presents an excellent opportunity to advance your career, to learn from a collaborative team, and to contribute to the delivery of safe, sustainable infrastructure that underpins resilient communities.

Role Accountabilities

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the preparation of preliminary and detailed designs for bridges, culverts, and other transportation-related structures. Your duties may encompass assisting with structural analysis and calculations, drafting drawings and technical reports, and contributing to the development of contractual documentation.

You will collaborate closely with senior engineers and other disciplines to coordinate project deliverables and support the review and production of drawings, including shop drawing review and RFI tracking. This ensures that items are routed to and resolved by the appropriate engineer and that responses are returned ahead of scheduled deadlines. During the construction phase, you may also assist with site inspections and construction liaison services to ensure that work is completed in accordance with design specifications.

You will also contribute to quality control and quality assurance processes, assisting in maintaining high standards across all project activities.

Furthermore, you will have opportunities to acquire knowledge through mentoring and coaching provided by senior team members, while also assisting the team with proposal preparation and other activities related to business development as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • Pursuing the Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng).
  • 2–4 years of experience in bridge or civil engineering, ideally including exposure to bridge design or rehabilitation projects
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software and CAD software
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and relevant provincial/territorial standards is an asset
  • Strong willingness to learn, take initiative, and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Good attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to delivering high-quality work
  • Excellent communication skills and an interest in developing technical and professional capabilities
  • EIT status or eligibility to register as an Engineer-in-Training is preferred
  • Previous exposure to MTO projects or bridge inspections is an asset
