About the Role
Total Wine & More is seeking a Senior Manager, Security Engineering, to join our Technology team in Bethesda, MD. In this role, you will lead the strategy, enhancement, and execution of our security engineering programs, tools, and operations. You will manage a team of security professionals dedicated to safeguarding the organization's critical assets, data, and systems from evolving cyber threats. The Senior Manager, Security Engineering, is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and overseeing the daily operation of security technologies, while partnering closely with security leadership to address issues, prioritize risks, and respond to emerging concerns. You will also drive the development of security policies, risk management practices, and technical solutions, ensuring they align with organizational objectives and meet compliance requirements. This role reports to the Senior Director, Information Security.
You will
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Information Security professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Develop and implement the organization’s information security strategy, policies, and standards, and strategize long-term security initiatives that strengthen overall resilience.
- Oversee daily security operations, including monitoring, detection, and incident response, and influence operational practices to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
- Lead the investigation and resolution of major security incidents, providing analysis and recommendations, while helping shape future prevention and response capabilities.
- Manage the implementation and operation of advanced security technologies, such as SIEM, endpoint protection, and threat intelligence platforms.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and NIST.
- Conduct regular security audits, assessments, and penetration tests to evaluate vulnerabilities and forecast emerging risks that may impact the organization.
You will come with
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field preferred or equivalent years of experience.
- 7-10 years’ experience in Information Security preferred.
- 7-10 years’ experience in a leadership or managerial role preferred.
- 7-10 years demonstrated success in leading cross-functional security initiatives in complex environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of security technologies, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, SIEM tools, and encryption methods.
- Hands-on experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environments.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
- Comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management frameworks.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
