Job Description Summary

A full-time Implementation Science Specialist is needed in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina to provide scientific and operational support for implementation science-focused research studies at the Hollings Cancer Center. The Implementation Science Specialist will support the design and evaluation of cancer-related dissemination and implementation research studies across clinical, community, and health system settings. Working collaboratively with investigators, clinicians, healthcare administrators, and community partners, the specialist will apply implementation science frameworks and mixed methods approaches to cancer research studies.

The Implementation Science Specialist will support research investigators in implementation science grant development, mixed methods data collection and analysis activities, Advisory Board engagement, and research dissemination activities while contributing to the strategic growth of implementation science research within the organization.

Job Description:

A full-time Implementation Science Specialist is needed in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina to provide scientific and operational support for implementation science-focused research studies at the Hollings Cancer Center. The Implementation Science Specialist will support the design and evaluation of cancer-related dissemination and implementation research studies across clinical, community, and health system settings. Working collaboratively with investigators, clinicians, healthcare administrators, and community partners, the specialist will apply implementation science frameworks and mixed methods approaches to cancer research studies.

 

The Implementation Science Specialist will support research investigators in implementation science grant development, mixed methods data collection and analysis activities, Advisory Board engagement, and research dissemination activities while contributing to the strategic growth of implementation science research within the organization.


Job Duties:

  • Oversee recruitment, data collection, data entry and data management activities for implementation science research studies. (35%)
  • Collaborate with members of the Implementation Science Initiative and cancer research teams in developing and implementing protocols and strategies for building capacity in implementation and dissemination research. Provides comprehensive guidance and direction to collaborators regarding Implementation Science Initiative activities. (20%)
  • Assist with development of implementation science toolkits, website practice guides, educational materials and other tools. (15%)
  • Support reporting requirements associated with the Implementation Science Initiative by developing and coordinating assessment of metrics with research teams and maintaining a detailed record of communication with partners. (10%)
  • Perform literature reviews and assist with grant-writing and manuscript development tasks. (10%)
  • Supervise implementation science study team members. (10%)

Preferred Education & Experience: 

A master’s degree in implementation science or a related field and experience in research (i.e., database and survey development, recruitment, screening, enrollment, mixed methods data collection and analysis and reporting). Candidates should be detail-oriented, personable, and have good problem-solving skills.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of scientific theory and methods, with an emphasis on implementation science principles and mixed methods.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines, while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with technology, project-based software and data management.

Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree and two years relevant program experience. (Infrequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand.
