As a Painting Process Engineer, you will drive innovation in painting and surface treatment processes, ensuring world-class product quality, operational excellence, and environmental compliance. How you will make an impact
Drive the standardization, optimization, and continuous improvement of painting and corrosion protection processes for transformer tanks and enclosures.
Develop and maintain global manufacturing standards, equipment specifications, and process best practices.
Provide technical support to production teams, troubleshoot process and quality issues, and implement corrective actions.
Optimize coating operations to improve safety, quality, productivity, asset utilization, and cost efficiency.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, customer, and industry standards related to painting and corrosion protection.
Lead Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve reliability, and lower Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
Support CAPEX projects, including equipment selection, upgrades, relocation, commissioning, and process validation.
Drive innovation through automation, digitalization, and adoption of advanced coating technologies.
Collaborate with suppliers, Category Management, and Supplier Quality teams to improve process capability and product performance.
Facilitate benchmarking across Hitachi Energy and external industries, identify performance gaps, and drive improvement actions.
Maintain process documentation, SOPs, technical specifications, and performance reports to support operational excellence and compliance.
You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
2 to 6 years of experience in painting, surface treatment, corrosion protection, or manufacturing environments.
Strong knowledge of surface preparation, industrial painting, coating application, and corrosion protection processes.
Experience in implementing and optimizing manufacturing or process improvement initiatives.
Understanding of process safety management, risk assessment, and environmental compliance practices.
Familiarity with national and international standards related to corrosion protection, surface treatment, and protective coatings.
Professional certification in coating inspection is preferred, such as PCI Level II, NACE, FROSIO, AMPP, or SSPC.
Experience in inspection, testing, and quality assurance of corrosion protection and coating systems is an advantage
Good communication skills with fluency in English.
