Role Purpose
The Project Management Officer (PMO) will play a critical controlling role within the Markets Operations Transformation organisation, supporting delivery rigour, governance, planning, reporting and assurance across the portfolio.
They will support both the Markets Operations AI Transformation Programme (MOAT) and the wider Markets Operations Transformation agenda. The PMO will act as a central point of control, transparency and coordination across Markets, ensuring that plans, achievements, resources, financials and executive reporting are accurately maintained. The role will support senior governance forums, and ensure that Markets Operations Transformation can evidence progress, manage delivery risk and maintain clear line of sight across all transformation activity.
Key Responsibilities
PMO Governance & Control
- Operate as PMO across the Markets Operations Transformation portfolio, ensuring agreed project management standards, governance and reporting controls.
- Maintain a consolidated view of portfolio delivery, including scope, achievements, RAID, decisions, benefits and financials.
Planning, Tracking & Delivery Assurance
- Own and maintain coordinated delivery plans, ensuring clarity of milestones, owners, dependencies and timelines.
- Maintain accurate plans in Clarity where required, supporting project code setup, time booking, financial tracking, resource plans and forecast updates.
- Hold workstream and project leads accountable for timely updates against plan.
Investment Planning, Financial Control & Portfolio Management
- Support the investment planning process, ensuring that business line, BCO and cross-Markets asks are consolidated, reviewed and consolidated.
- Maintain line of sight across CapEx, change OpEx, carry-over projects, operational efficiency asks, resilience items, business demand, regulatory initiatives and other Operations-led transformation demand.
Controls, Issues, Risks & Dependencies
- Maintain a RAID view across Markets Opewrations Transformation.
- Ensure delivery status, risk posture and executive reporting are aligned and factually consistent.
- Support issue resolution by identifying owners, required decisions, and target closure dates.
Reporting & Executive Communications
- Produce clear, concise reporting for senior forums, including ExCo-level materials where required.
- Provide concise summary updates that highlight progress, blockers, decisions required and forward outlook.
Portfolio Hygiene, Knowledge Management & Ways of Working
- Maintain structured repositories for portfolio materials, including workstream plans, governance packs, minutes, action logs, investment planning artefacts, RAID logs and reporting packs.
- Help embed an outcome-focused PMO culture across the organisation.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience in a PMO role, within an enterprise environment.
- Strong understanding of portfolio governance, delivery planning, RAID management, action tracking, milestone control and executive reporting.
- Hands-on experience using Clarity or similar project / portfolio management tools for planning, tracking, resource management and financial control.
- Experience supporting governance forums, including agenda management, pack production, minutes, decisions and action tracking.
Desirable
- Experience in financial services, Markets, Operations, COO, risk, controls, technology or regulatory environments.
- Experience supporting automation, operational excellence, process improvement or operating model transformation programmes.
- Experience supporting investment planning, business case development, portfolio prioritisation or funding submissions.
- Experience working across multiple business lines, legal entities, geographies or functional teams.
