Job Title: Principal Engineer
Location: Middleton, London and Chelmsford
We are looking to secure the services of an experienced Principal Engineer with a proven track record in substation engineering and project expertise relating to turnkey HV GIS/AIS substations. In this role, you will be embedded into the project team and work in close coordination with the Linxon execution team and Linxon engineering.
What will you do?
Key Areas of Responsibility (KARs):
Coordinate the design team across all disciplines.
Liaise with the Project Director on engineering budgets and provide forecast cost to complete estimates and associated justification to changes in expenditure.
Manage the programme and interface with the planning engineers for design.
Coordinate with the Principal Design Engineer (Lead Engineer) for design submission, design reviews and hazard reviews.
Coordinate with the Principal Design Engineer (Lead Engineer) forecasts for completion and resource planning.
Support the Project Director in overall projects’ risk and opportunity assessments and implementation of resulting actions.
Contribute to the creation of subcontracts/Purchase Orders and manage the subcontractors/suppliers jointly with other involved functions.
Support the Commercial Manager in contractual and commercial aspects of project engineering (including Customer’s Instruction, Early Warning Notice, Compensation Event ).
Work with customers to shape and deliver solutions, seeking feedback and innovating with the customer to drive and deliver improvements.
Experience Required:
Bachelor or master’s in electrical engineering or equivalent.
Extensive experience in HV substation for utilities.
Competencies/ Skills Required:
Knowledge of Transmission or Distribution practices (400kV to 11 kV). Knowledge of required NG standards will be considered as a plus.
Excellent in communication, able to interact with external and internal parties at all levels in a multi-cultural environment.
Result orientated team player with a proactive approach.
Capable of working to tight time scales.
Fluency in English – both written and spoken
Other Position-Specific Characteristics
Working location: office during design phase, regular presence (minimum 60%) on site during construction.
