Description
Our client, a leading transportation and logistics organization serving the agriculture industry, is seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager to lead operations, drive business growth, and oversee the organization's financial, operational, and people management functions. This leadership role will work closely with the Board of Directors, management team and industry stakeholders to ensure continued operational excellence and long-term success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide strategic leadership and execute organizational objectives in alignment with Board direction
- Oversee financial performance, budgeting, capital planning, and resource management
- Lead daily operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the business
- Prepare and present operational, financial, and strategic reports to the Board of Directors
- Identify and pursue business development and growth opportunities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, producers, processors, suppliers, and industry partners
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, legal, licensing, and safety requirements
- Lead recruitment, employee development, performance management, and succession planning
- Oversee compensation programs, workforce planning, and employee engagement initiatives
- Support organizational effectiveness through strong leadership, communication, and decision-making
DESIRED PROFILE:
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in agriculture, transportation, logistics, or a related industry
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex operations
- Strong financial management, budgeting, and business planning skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholder groups
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with financial software is considered an asset
- Willingness to travel within Ontario as required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and support operational needs outside regular business hours when necessary
