Job Description:
Seeking a highly motivated Engineering Manager (MG1) to lead a team of software engineers responsible for the development, debugging, testing, and delivery of HP-UX for HPE server platforms. This role combines technical leadership and people management, with responsibility for driving execution, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and developing engineering talent.
Responsibilities:
Lead end-to-end execution of OS software development for server platforms
Oversee Linux software package porting into HP-UX, including development, integration, and validation
Ensure quality, performance, and compliance with OS and platform requirements
Communicate project status and escalate issues to direct manager and internal and external partners
Partner with cross-functional teams (firmware development, product management, and customer support)
Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions opportunities.
People Management:
Manage a team of engineers, including HPE full time employees and external contractors
Set clear expectations for deliverables, quality standards, and execution timelines
Provides people-care management for assigned team members, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; ensures that proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member and process development
Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
Education and Experience Required:
First level university degree or equivalent experience required.
May have advanced university degree.
Typically 5 or more years of related work experience, including 0 -2 years of people management experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong leadership skills, including coaching, team-building, and conflict resolution.
Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
Excellent written / verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Can effectively tailor communication to relevant target audience which include peer developers, testers, product support, as well as product, project, and development management and first level executives (director level).
Experience working with operating systems, specifically HP-UX and Linux
Experience working with server platforms, x86 architecture, and enterprise systems
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle
Prior experience leading technical projects or small teams
