Description
The position offers strong ownership across manufacturing strategy, equipment specification and implementation, production readiness, process qualification, quality planning, and product launch activities. It is well suited for an engineer who enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges, improving process capability, collaborating across functions, and contributing directly to the industrialization of new products.
General Responsibilities
Support cross-functional project activities related to manufacturing process development, equipment readiness, industrialization, and product launch.
• Represent manufacturing engineering in customer, supplier, and internal project discussions requiring coordination across functions and sites.
• Identify process risks, propose mitigation actions, and drive continuous improvement opportunities.
• Define manufacturing strategies aimed at robust, efficient, and defect-free production.
• Prepare specifications for production equipment and coordinate with internal mechanization teams or external suppliers to ensure equipment meets process and product requirements.
• Collaborate with design, quality, production, and project teams on process specifications, product requirements, quality expectations, and equipment continuity.
• Develop new or improved manufacturing and testing processes required to meet performance, quality, and cost objectives for future applications.
• Contribute to the successful launch of new products and support production ramp-up activities.
• Support advanced quality planning activities, including process qualification, risk assessment, and control planning.
• Provide input on functional requirements, review equipment or tooling designs, and support debugging and qualification of high-volume assembly, test equipment, or tooling.
• Support improvement projects focused on reducing cycle time, defects, and manufacturing cost.
• Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure processes are capable, controlled, cost-effective, and aligned with delivery requirements.
• Evaluate internal and supplier technical capabilities, including tooling design, build experience, maintenance approach, process controls, automation readiness, quality systems, and materials knowledge.
Experience / Qualifications
• University degree required, such as a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Experience in process or manufacturing engineering within an industrial production environment.
• Experience with New Product Introduction, industrialization, manufacturing transfers, production launches, process improvement, or equipment implementation.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and common quality tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, PPAP, and Root Cause Analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Strong communication, presentation, organization, planning, and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions, sites, suppliers, and external partners.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Fluent in English.
