Job Description:
Position Summary and Purpose
The Rehab Technician is a non- licensed caregiver who works under the direction of a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, and/or Assistant to aid in the provision of patient care. The technician will be involved with patient preparation, components of certain interventions, and post-treatment procedures. Specific tasks will be determined by the specific therapy provider, Physical Therapy (PT,) Occupational Therapy (OT,) or Speech Language Pathology (SLP). The Technician attends to the daily tasks of departmental organization and upkeep. The Technician will be expected to perform various clerical, regulatory, and environment of care duties on a regular basis. The rehab technician may serve as an office coordinator or liaison when requested by the department leader.
Essential Functions:
• Administers components of interventions (therapeutic exercise, therapeutic activity, gait training, activities of daily living); specific functions and tasks will be determined by the therapy provider (PT, OT, or SLP)
• Performs setup for exercise, evaluation, or modality equipment
• Assists in transfer and/or transport of patients, as needed
• Take vital signs, as needed
• Assists therapist with initiation and monitoring of patients on available therapy and exercise equipment within the rehab department
• Monitors departmental supply level
• Performs clerical duties (answers phones, scheduling, data entry, filing)
• Reports any and all status changes regarding patient to supervising Therapist or Assistant
• Maintains organization and cleanliness of all patient care equipment and treatment areas
Other Functions:
• Initiates orders for repairs and routes non-functioning equipment for repair
• Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
• Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education:
• High school diploma or GED/ equivalent (required)
Experience:
• Previous clerical experience (preferred)
• Experience as Physical Therapy Tech (preferred)
Certification:
• Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
Job Competency:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities critical to this role:
• Must be able to perform basic math and analyze data
• Knowledge of or ability to learn medical terminology
• Must be able to answer phones, direct calls and display professional phone etiquette while providing excellent customer service
• Manages time effectively, keeps tasks appropriately prioritized
• Ability to build effective, strong working relationships with employees, colleagues, management and vendors through trust, communication, and credibility
• Ability to ensure accuracy of data entry, document creation and filing systems in a healthcare environment
• Ability to perform work in a neat, efficient, well-coordinated, well communicated manner with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism
Language Ability:
• Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats
Reasoning Ability:
• Able to think through complex situations and identify appropriate options
Computer Skills:
• May require the ability to type or keyboard 55 accurate words per minute
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
