Overview

A Hazardous Materials Shipping, Receiving, & Warehouse Operations Lead in Ireland oversees the safe, compliant, and efficient handling of hazardous hazardous & other goods shipping, receiving and warehouse operations. Key responsibilities include strict regulatory compliance (ADR/IMDG/IATA), team leadership, inventory management, and ensuring robust Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards

Responsibilities

Shipping & Receiving Operations

  • Lead and coordinate domestic and international shipping activities for hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Ensure compliance with all hazardous materials shipping regulations including IATA, DOT, and applicable governmental requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain all required shipping documentation and records.
  • Coordinate timely receipt, inspection, loading, unloading, and movement of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Ensure shipment integrity through trailer inspections and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Manage express mail, package sorting, and internal delivery services.
  • Support product recalls and audits by maintaining accurate and accessible shipping records.

 

Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Ensure accurate logging of received materials, bills of lading, and shipment documentation.
  • Coordinate temporary storage and transfer of materials to off-site locations as needed.
  • Ensure loading dock and warehouse areas remain clean, organized, and audit-ready.

Safety, Compliance & Quality

  • Champion safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all warehouse and facility safety procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to AIB quality requirements, GMP standards, and internal compliance procedures.
  • Conduct and support safety inspections, equipment inspections, and warehouse audits.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure all employees, contractors, and vendors follow established safety standards.
  • Support pest management programs and report findings appropriately.
  • Maintain hallways, storage areas, and operational spaces in safe condition at all times.

Operational Management

  • Support management of operational budgets related  of off-site storage, licenses, leases, and related vendor services.
  • Coordinate with off-site storage vendors and service providers to maintain operational standards.
  • Provide hands-on operational support to ensure timely completion of all work activities.
  • Support additional R&D operations and facility initiatives as required.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in warehouse logistics, with at least 2 years in a dedicated leadership or supervisory capacity handling hazardous materials.
  • Strong knowledge of hazardous materials shipping regulations (IATA, DOT).
  • Minimum National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) -QQI level 5 In Life Sciences Manufacturing Operations Qualification or equivalent
  • HACCP Implementation and Verification Certified
  • ATC-04_Installation & Maintenance of equipment in Explosive Atmospheres (Dust, Gases & Vapours) Certified
  • DG Transport Awareness Training - Certified
  • Forklift Driving Licence
  • MEWP Training - Certificed
  • Spotter Training - Certificed
  • Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and adapt quickly to changing operational demands.

Differentiating Competencies Required

  • Active certifications in Dangerous Goods handling (e.g., IATA, IMDG, or ADR) are highly preferred
  • National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) - QQI Level 6 Purchasing, Supply Chain and Logistics or equivalent
  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to manage in all directions. Is comfortable dealing with difficult discussions and situations. Strong team player, able to adapt to different audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills – able to communicate clearly and confidently at all levels                   in writing and presenting in group situations.
