Please note: The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $89,721 to $140,361, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Behavioral Health and Crisis Services is excited to invite passionate and experienced behavioral health clinicians to join our team as our next Supervisory Therapist. The Behavioral Health Crisis Stabilization Center (BHCSC) provides 24/7 immediate, short-term crisis care for adults and youth experiencing mental health or substance use emergencies, offering stabilization support for up to 23 hours and connecting individuals to ongoing community-based care. In this pivotal role, you will provide both clinical and administrative oversight to a talented multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality, compassionate crisis services. You’ll guide staff, uphold clinical and regulatory standards, shape program operations, and support the mission of ensuring timely, person-centered care for residents in urgent need. - Provides clinical supervision to clinical staff in accordance with COMAR requirements
- Ensures BHCSC program compliance with COMAR and applicable state/federal agencies
- Provides limited direct services as needed to support program operations and continuity of care
- Supervises assigned staff and supports workforce development
- Supports operational and administrative functions of the BHCSC
- Determines appropriate clinical interventions, level of care, and treatment recommendations for clients presenting complex mental health, substance use, trauma, co-occurring or psychosocial needs.
- Provides clinical direction to staff regarding challenging client situations, barriers to treatment, engagement, and strategies to improve outcomes
- Reviews assessments, diagnoses and progress notes to ensure compliance with standards
- Prioritizes staff coverage and caseload adjustments tomaintaincontinuity of services during vacancies, emergencies, or high-demand periods.
- Addresses employee performance concerns.
- Recommends process improvements to strengthen service delivery, compliance outcomes, workflow efficiency, and client access to care.
- Participates in on-call rotation for 24/7 coverage with other Crisis Center Supervisors.
This position is designated as Essential.? The individual selected for this position will be considered an Essential Employee.? Essential employees must report to work during a period of general emergency or liberal leave.
This position requires a driver’s license as the selected candidate will travel throughout the County to perform job duties.
The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-placement medical exam, drug screening and a background check.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related behavioral science field.
Experience: Four (4) years of professional clinical counseling experience including at least one (1) year at the supervisory/lead level.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held, and maintained by, the employee:
• Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC);
• Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy (LCMFT);
• Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC);
• Licensed Certified Social Worker/Clinical (LCSW-C);
• Licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; or
• Licensed Psychologist.
Driver's License Required: Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid driver's license issued by the employee's state of residence.
The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevance of training, and experience in the following areas:
- Licensed as a Board Approved Supervisor as pertinent to your Maryland clinical licensure.
- Experience working in a crisis behavioral health setting.
- Experience conducting safety assessments for individuals in acute behavioral health crises.
- Experience working with public safety partners.
- Describe your knowledge of the crisis continuum of services in Montgomery County.
- Experience providing direct supervision to behavioral health professionals conducting crisis response work.
- Strong clinical experience working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in a crisis-oriented behavioral health setting.
- Strong leadership qualities and progressive responsibility as a behavioral health practitioner with a minimum of 5 years post-masters clinical experience.
- Strong familiarity with professional ethics and privacy statutes while working in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Knowledge and familiarity with applicable Federal, State and Local regulations as they apply to crisis work in behavioral health emergencies.
- Knowledge of local behavioral health programs and resources and experience with facilitating referrals amongst varying levels of care.
