Project Engineer

We’re hiring a Project Engineer to join a well-established mechanical contractor in New Hope, MN. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a career in commercial construction and gain hands-on experience supporting projects across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, temperature controls, and other mechanical trades.

Working closely with experienced Project Managers and field teams, the Project Engineer will help coordinate projects from planning through closeout while gaining exposure to scheduling, cost management, documentation, estimating, field operations, and customer relationships.

This position is designed to provide a strong foundation for continued growth into Project Management.

What You’ll Do

• Support Project Managers with the day-to-day coordination of commercial construction projects.

• Prepare and manage project documentation, including submittals, permits, equipment inspections, and closeout documents.

• Request and organize equipment and material pricing based on project drawings, specifications, and schedules.

• Assist with change orders, proposals, forecasting, and other project cost-management activities.

• Review project schedules and help coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.

• Participate in project, customer, contractor, field, prefab, and planning meetings.

• Work closely with Foremen, Journeymen, Apprentices, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.

• Gain working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, hydronic, ductwork, electrical, and temperature-control systems.

• Learn mechanical construction methods, materials, codes, estimating tools, and prefabrication processes.

• Assist with project closeout, including warranties, startup documentation, owner training, as-builts, and punch lists.

• Develop an understanding of construction billing methods, contracts, and overall project financial performance.

• Build relationships with customers, general contractors, trade partners, and internal project teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.

• Interest in building a long-term career in mechanical or commercial construction.
