Sompo has a unique opportunity for a National Underwriting Operations Specialist in our AgriSompo National Underwriting Department team.

National Underwriting Operations Specialist supports underwriting consistency, operational efficiency, and employee development through training, system support, and regional underwriting assistance.  The role serves as a national resource to help underwriting teams strengthen system proficiency, underwriting knowledge, process consistency, and adoption of national standards across all regions.  This position also partners with Product Owners and System Support teams to support training, system enhancements, issue resolution, testing, and underwriting-related initiatives.

What you’ll be doing:

• Deliver underwriting training and onboarding for new and existing underwriting employees.
• Strengthen underwriting knowledge, system proficiency, and procedural consistency across regions.
• Develop, maintain, and improve training materials, job aids, and process documentation.
• Provide underwriting oversight and review of underwriting-facing training content.
• Reinforce national underwriting standards, service expectations, and best practices.
• Serve as a resource for underwriting system functionality, workflow questions, and operational guidance.
• Partner with Product Owners and System Support on underwriting requirements, enhancements, and process improvements.

What you’ll bring:

• Bachelors degree in Business, Agriculture Education, Insurance is preferred, or equivalent related experience.
• 5 plus years of MPCI underwriting experience with strong knowledge of underwriting systems, procedures, handbooks, provisions, and related resources.
• Experience training, mentoring, developing employees, supporting regional underwriting operations, and working across functional teams is also preferred, along with a practical understanding of underwriting workflows, documentation requirements, and service expectations.
• Strong knowledge of MPCI underwriting procedures, crop insurance resources, operating systems, and underwriting workflows, with the ability to translate complex concepts into practical, easy-to-understand guidance.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence outcomes, support process improvements, and work effectively across underwriting, Product Owner, and System Support teams.
• Ability to travel up to 25%

Salary Range: Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
