The College Access Department is seeking a part-time casual Office Assistant to support the Margaret Carter Skills Center. This position provides day-to-day administrative, customer-service, scheduling, records, purchasing, and program-support functions that help MCSC operate effectively. The Office Assistant serves as a welcoming first point of contact for participants, community members, partners, and PCC colleagues and works closely with MCSC staff and College Access leadership to support programming, events, and center operations.What You'll Do and Who We Are Looking For
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support for the Margaret Carter Skills Center and its programs.
- Serve as a welcoming point of contact for participants, community members, partners, and PCC staff; respond to phone, email, Google Chat, and in-person inquiries and route requests as appropriate.
- Support participant intake, registration, scheduling, appointment coordination, and general communication related to MCSC classes, workshops, activities, and services.
- Assist with scheduling, Attendance, communications, room coordination, and logistical tasks for MCSC programming, meetings, presentations, and events.
- Prepare, organize, maintain, and update program records, forms, spreadsheets, files, and other documents while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support data entry and routine tracking needed for program participation, services, activities, and operational reporting.
- Maintain and organize office and program supplies and inventories; track orders, purchases, receipts, and distribution of materials as needed.
- Assist staff with purchasing and other routine administrative processes in accordance with PCC procedures.
- Support preparation of program materials, correspondence, flyers, sign-in materials, presentations, and other communications.
- Provide general support for MCSC classrooms, workshops, and participant activities, including setup and coordination needs.
- Collaborate with MCSC staff, College Access colleagues, SWEB partners, and other PCC departments to support smooth program operations.
- Perform other related administrative duties that support the Margaret Carter Skills Center and College Access Department.
Qualifications:
- Experience providing administrative, office, customer service, or program support.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Commitment to creating a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for participants and community members.
- Good to intermediate computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel and Google Workspace applications.
- Ability to learn and use PCC systems, databases, and administrative processes.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, follow established procedures, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate judgment when working with participant and program information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Reliable and dependable attendance.
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Primary Location: PCC Cascade campus

Casual Compensation Hourly Range

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), you may view Portland Community College’s (PCC) most recent Annual Security Report (ASR) on the Department of Public Safety website. The ASR contains current security and safety-related policy disclosure statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information and resources, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains crime statistics for Clery Act crimes which occurred on PCC properties for the last three calendar years. Paper copies of the ASR are available upon request at all Department of Public Safety offices.
