Laborer, Grounds Maint

Amentum is seeking a Laborer, Grounds Maintenance for Creech Air Force Base.

Purpose and Scope: 

Provide grounds maintenance services for the industrial, man camp, and remote radar sites. Duties include grass cutting of the athletic fields, watering, trimming, edging, weed pulling, trash pick-up at the landfill, and minor repairs to structures and equipment. May spray lawns shrubs and trees with fertilizer. Will be involved with the herbicide program for the abatement of weeds. During the late fall and early winter months will be involved with the clean-up and clearing the fence lines of tumble weed to establish fire breaks and clear zones. Removes snow from walks, driveways, roads, or parking lots, using shovels and snow blowers. Spreads salt on walkways and other areas. Will be involved with range cleanup activities associated with Coronet Cleans and Battle Damage Assessments associated with those same ranges. In addition, perform routine repairs on fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings, also assists in repairing roads, walkways, buildings, and mechanical equipment. Ensures all comfort stations, offices, workshop areas, and parking lots are free of debris by sweeping, washing, mopping and polishing. Assists facility craftsman as required in routine and corrective maintenance activities. Position is represented by a Union Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Participation in Quality Control and Safety Program.
• Perform daily checks on company provided equipment and vehicles.
• Must be able to use mowers, trimmers, and edger.
• Clean ground maintenance equipment.
• Police grounds prior to mowing or trimming.
• Ensure and maintain grass at a height of 2”-3”
• Perform watering of lawns per guidance of supervisor.
• Perform fertilization per guidance of supervisor.
• Perform debris and rodent clean up.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Ability and knowledge to use the following: rid-a-mowers, weed-eaters, hedge trimmers, hand pruners, different high reach equipment used for tree trimming, concrete forms (steel and wood forms), assorted concrete tools used for finishing concrete, shovels, concrete vibrating, concrete mixers, assorted compaction equipment (hand compaction up to 2 ton hand cylinders).
• Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• High school diploma or GED
• Must have the ability to obtain and retain a valid Nevada driver's license.
• Must have the ability to obtain and retain a Secret security clearance as required by the customer.
• Ability to read, write and receive written and/or verbal instructions in English.
• Ability to use good judgment and common sense when performing job functions.
• Ability to be punctual and possess patience to work under stressful conditions.
• Lifting of weight up to seventy (70) pounds is required. 

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

• Use industrial equipment and work outside in all adverse conditions.
• Physical requirements include being able to lift as a minimum seventy (70) pounds when required, sitting, standing, kneeling, crouching, driving, weed-eating, chopping, long hours behind a vehicle or tractor, hand concrete mixing, walking short distances, when required, to included working in normal and adverse weather conditions due to work requirements.

Compensation Details:

$31.05
