Business Development Manager
Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead growth initiatives and drive high-value business development opportunities within the public utilities metering sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new market opportunities, building and maintaining strategic partnerships, managing key client accounts, and developing opportunities to expand market share. The role will also take ownership of achieving revenue growth targets, strengthening client relationships, and driving business development initiatives that support the organisation’s overall growth strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies targeting public sector utility customers.
- Identify emerging market trends and opportunities for expansion within electricity metering solutions.
- Lead market intelligence initiatives, including competitor analysis and pricing strategies.
- Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders within municipalities and state-owned entities.
- Represent the organisation in contract negotiations and strategic partnership discussions.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of complex tender responses, proposals, and technical presentations.
- Collaborate with internal technical, operations, and finance teams to ensure seamless solution delivery.
- Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual business plans and revenue forecasts.
- Provide regular business development and performance reports to management.
- Monitor the return on investment (ROI) of business development initiatives and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Provide feedback to product development and solutions teams based on customer needs and identified market gaps.
- Support the launch of new products and services through strategic positioning and customer engagement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in technical sales or business development within the public utilities sector.
- Proven track record of successfully leading business development initiatives and achieving revenue growth.
- Strong understanding of public sector procurement and tendering processes.
