We are looking for a confident Maintenance Assistant to carry out a range of day-to-day maintenance tasks in order to ensure the hospital is maintained in a safe and efficient functional order, making a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care at Cygnet Hospital Derby.
You’ll be working Monday – Friday from 7:30am - 4:00pm (40) hours a week in a hospital that supports individuals with personality disorders and mental health diagnoses.

Cygnet Hospital Derby provides low secure and mental health rehabilitation care based on the Recovery Model. Our integrated male care pathway includes Litchurch Ward, our low secure ward, and the Wyvern Unit, our mental health rehabilitation service. Alvaston Ward, our specialist female personality disorder service, is one of the leading services of its kind in the East and West Midlands.
Your Day-to-Day...
Undertake day-to-day maintenance and planned remedial works to keep plant, services and vehicles in working order, keeping records of call-outs and routine checks as directed
Carry out a range of tasks including decorating, basic joinery, painting & general building work
Maintain equipment, services & vehicles
Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and potential hazards
Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights
You are...
Experienced in a similar role, or have worked in a self-employed capacity in recent years
Able to communicate at all levels & record detailed, accurate maintenance information
Skilled at DIY & general maintenance
Preferably experienced in the electrical/construction industry
Friendly, conscientious & an excellent team member with a positive attitude
Car Driver (advantageous)
