Description

About Vitra Health

Vitra Health is a mission-driven healthcare organization committed to improving the quality of life for individuals and families across Massachusetts. Through innovative home- and community-based services, Vitra supports aging adults, people with disabilities, and individuals with complex care needs. Each client is supported by a dedicated nurse and case manager, ensuring compassionate, personalized, and dignified care.

As Vitra continues to grow across multiple MassHealth program lines, we are seeking a Director of Compliance who wants to build and lead the compliance function for a fast-growing, multi-program organization, with direct access to executive leadership and a genuine mandate to shape how the organization manages regulatory excellence.

The Opportunity

The Director of Compliance leads the compliance function across Vitra Health's programs. Reporting to the Vice President of Quality and Compliance, the Director owns the day-to-day compliance program: monitoring, auditing, investigations, corrective action, audit readiness, and regulatory education. This is a build-and-own role in a growing organization, and the Director works closely with executive leadership and partners across Legal, Operations, Clinical Services, and Human Resources to keep compliance practical, measurable, and embedded in how the organization operates.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Program and Governance

• Develop and execute the compliance strategy and annual compliance work plan, aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

• Lead the annual compliance risk assessment and develop corresponding mitigation strategies.

• Ensure organizational readiness for regulatory audits, accreditation reviews, and government inquiries.

• Report compliance trends, risks, and performance to executive leadership on a defined cadence.

• Monitor emerging regulatory changes and lead implementation of required updates across programs.

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management

• Oversee all compliance monitoring, auditing, investigation, and corrective action activities.

• Ensure compliance with MassHealth program regulations, CMS requirements, HIPAA, and OIG guidance.

• Lead organizational responses to regulatory findings, external audits, and compliance investigations.

• Provide oversight of corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA) and verify the effectiveness of remediation.

• Partner with Legal, Operations, Clinical Services, and Human Resources on regulatory and compliance initiatives.

Audit and Quality Oversight

• Direct the internal audit program, including clinical documentation reviews and billing integrity monitoring.

• Develop and maintain compliance dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting tools.

• Translate audit findings into measurable operational improvements in partnership with program leaders.

• Align compliance initiatives with quality improvement strategies alongside Quality leadership.

Team Leadership and Education

• Lead, mentor, and develop the compliance team, including auditors, specialists, and clinical reviewers.

• Establish departmental goals, manage the department budget, and allocate compliance resources effectively.

• Develop and oversee organization-wide compliance education and training programs.

• Represent the organization with regulatory agencies, payers, and industry associations.

Foster a Culture of Customer Service and Commitment to Quality Care

• Serve as a brand ambassador for Vitra reflecting our vision, mission, and values.

• Show genuine interest and compassion for the communities we serve and commitment to the diversity of our clients and team members.

• Mentor and support team members.

What We Are Looking For

• 8+ years of progressive healthcare experience; experience in healthcare compliance required.

• Experience with Medicaid and/or MassHealth programs, preferably in home-based settings.

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

• 5+ years of leadership experience managing compliance, quality, audit, regulatory, or operational teams.

• Demonstrated experience building or leading an organization-wide compliance program.

• Proven success leading regulatory audits, investigations, and corrective action initiatives.

• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and partner with leaders at all levels.

• Able to analyze data and translate it into action.

• Able to collaborate effectively with teams to translate compliance metrics into operational, executable actions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Medicaid-regulated programs.

• Experience leading, managing, or supporting NCQA accreditation preparation, survey activities, and ongoing compliance maintenance.

• Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC).

• Experience presenting to executive leadership teams and Boards of Directors.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Please note this position is fully onsite Monday-Friday

    • Office-based work in a clean, well-lit environment with fluctuating temperatures near others.

    • Requires substantial periods of repetitive work utilizing a computer, monitor, keyboard, and mouse; requires frequent sitting more than 75% of the workday.

    • Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of equipment and supplies weighing up to 35 pounds; requires walking and standing and the ability to negotiate stairs; requires visual acuity and manual dexterity to operate equipment.

    Perks and Benefits

    • Employer-sponsored health insurance with a generous employer match.

    • Dental and vision benefits.

    • Supplemental benefits: life, accident, critical illness, and disability insurance.

    • 401K with a 5% company match.

    • Accrued paid time off.

    • Ten company-paid holidays.

    • Wellness benefits.

    • Tuition reimbursement.

    • Supportive team structure and company culture with a focus on work/life balance.
