POSITION SUMMARY:

The Barista prepares and serves high-quality coffee, espresso, specialty beverages, and related food items while providing excellent customer service in a ministry-focused, not-for-profit hospitality environment. This position maintains clean, organized, well-stocked service areas; accurately handles point-of-sale and money-handling procedures; monitors inventory; stocks shelves; follows FIFO product rotation; supports events; maintains dining room cleanliness; assists with dishwashing and kitchen laundry; performs routine cleaning and sanitation; and helps monitor coffee bar equipment and the water purification system. This role requires awareness of upcoming events, attention to food safety and cleanliness standards, and a team-oriented approach that reflects the mission and values of Kenneth Copeland Ministries.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•         Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, specialty beverages, and related food items according to recipes, presentation standards, and food safety expectations.

•         Bake pastries daily according to established production needs, food safety standards, and presentation expectations.

•         Provide friendly, professional customer service to staff, guests, ministry partners, and visitors.

•         Operate the register and point-of-sale system accurately, including cash, card, and in-house billing transactions; balance daily totals and follow approved money-handling procedures.

•         Stock shelves, service areas, refrigerators, and coffee bar supplies; monitor inventory and communicate ordering needs.

•         Follow FIFO procedures for product rotation, labeling, dating, and freshness control.

•         Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of coffee bars, dining rooms, counters, equipment, shelving, storage areas, and guest-facing spaces.

•         Assist with dishwashing, small-wares organization, kitchen laundry, and back-of-house support tasks as needed.

•         Monitor and support routine care of espresso machines, brewers, grinders, ice machines, and the water purification system; report maintenance concerns promptly.

•         Support ministry events by preparing beverage service areas, stocking supplies, assisting with setup/breakdown, and responding to hospitality needs.

•         Work with Hospitality Services leadership and culinary team members to provide excellent products, efficient service, and a clean, welcoming environment.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

•         Must have high school diploma or equivalent

•         Food Service experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•         Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy during high-volume service.

•         Knowledge of basic food service, sanitation, cleaning, stocking, and beverage service procedures.

•         Ability to follow FIFO rotation, product dating, inventory control, and cost-conscious stewardship practices.

•         Basic math, cash-handling, register, and point-of-sale skills with attention to accuracy and accountability.

•         Ability to multi-task, remain calm under pressure, and perform duties with excellence.

•         Strong customer service, communication, teamwork, and follow-through skills.

•         Willingness to support dishwashing, cleaning, laundry, stocking, dining room care, and event service needs.

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:

•          Cash Register, Point-of-Sale System, Espresso Machine, Coffee Grinder, Coffee Brewer, Blender, Ice Machine, Water Purification System, Refrigerator, Freezer, Mop & Bucket, Personal Computer, Copier, and Fax Machine

•          Dishwasher, Slicer, Carts, Ovens, Grill, Stoves, Knives, Small Wares, Cleaning Tools, Laundry Equipment, and Event Service Supplies

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

•         Able to lift 30 lbs. Push 75 lbs.

•         Must be able to stand for a minimum of eight hours per day

•         Physical ability to push, pull, bend, stand, and stoop

•         Fast-paced Environment

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:

•         Ability to focus on assigned duties while balancing customer service, production, cleaning, stocking, and event support needs.

•         Logical follow-through and attention to detail when handling money, rotating products, cleaning service areas, and completing assigned tasks.

•         Must respond favorably and professionally in all work situations, including periods of high volume, changing event needs, and ministry guest interaction.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

•         Must be able to work in a normal food service and coffee bar environment with periods of high customer volume, noise, and frequent movement between service, kitchen, dining room, storage, and event areas. This position must also be able to function effectively between two kitchens and coffee bars as daily operations and event needs require.

•         Work is primarily indoors with occasional outdoor or event-related support as needed.

•         Overtime may be required, including weekends or ministry event support, based on operational needs.

•         Works in coffee bar, kitchen, dining room, dishwashing, laundry, storage, and event service environments.

OTHER:

•         Born again believer and must adhere to the doctrines of this organization as upheld by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland and their appointed representatives

•         Must work well with others, as a team and according to Romans 16:17, must not cause dissension, difficulties and divisions

•         Must maintain a good attendance record

•         Because of the wide range of personal contact with ministry leaders within and outside the organization, this position requires considerable diplomacy, maturity, and excellent communication skills

•         Ability to work with people of all cultures
