Short Description

The Data Exchange Developer III will be part of the IT data exchange group and will be required to work closely with various departments within the organization.

 

The individual analyzes, designs, documents, tests, troubleshoots and coordinates implementation of application and device interfaces.

 

Interact with business owners and IT colleagues for discovery build and testing.

 

Works with application and interface analysts as well as various third parties to translate interface requirements into technical specifications.  

 

The position holder will be responsible for providing guidance to junior staff as well as plan and help manage architect, artifacts, compliance and upgrade software.  

 

The position holder will be responsible for understanding Epic Bridges architecture, new features, forms and functions as well as help implement FHIR platform.

 

Integration – responsible for the operation of the application and device data interface tool set (interface engines) and environment; as well as the operation of the application and device data interfaces through the use of the integration toolset (interface engines) and standards such as HL7, X12, and DICOM, and open system scripting / job control.

 

Application data interfaces are used to connect applications at the data transaction level, usually in real-time. Sharing data electronically eliminates redundant entry of source data and reduces the opportunity for keying errors.

 

Device data interfaces are used to capture vital signs and other bio-data from patient monitoring medical devices and transfer that data into the EHR for review and recording in real-time.

 

This reduces the effort required to record data as well as the opportunity for keying errors.

 

Bridges – responsible for the operation of the (Bridges) interface toolkit of the Epic EHR. Bridges is one of the modules that enable data to be transported into and out of Epic, both application and device data.

 

FHIR – responsible for implementing and assisting in FHIR adoption strategy. 

 

Focus on accuracy, efficiency, security (PHI), extensible data model, storage, querying and data exchange policies.   BUILD/PROGRAM

 

·    Works independently developing new application/device data interfaces or enhancements to existing interfaces.

 

·    Develop Data Exchange architectural skills, and provide advisory input to deploy robust and scalable solutions, especially on-boarding new data points from Epic Bridges.

 

·    Maintains awareness of integration and technological developments and trends, providing periodic briefings to management.

 

PROJECT MANAGEMENT·    Manages small to medium size projects.  Track on-time completion and stabilization.  Report roadblocks so that timely actions can be taken. DOCUMENTATION·    Develop and maintain up to date documentation relating to the Data Exchange Team.SUPPORT·    Develop and implement interface testing strategy so that updates to an existing interface can be managed efficiently.·    Functions as a technical resource to other IT staff, IT management, and the client community.·    Willing to assume on-call responsibilities as and when needed.

Experience Required

6 years minimum of strong Data Exchange experience, including the development, maintenance, and operation of the application and device data interfaces through the use of the integration toolset (interface engines e.g Corepoint, GlobalScape EFT) and standards such as HL7, X12, and DICOM, and open system scripting / job control.

 

10+ years experience in Healthcare IT will be considered.  

 

Epic experience is plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor ’s degree in computer science, software development, business administration or related field Required

 

10 additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience maybe substituted in lieu of an Bachelor’s degree 

License/Certification Requirements

Epic Bridges Certification 

 

Familiarity with the HL7, XML, FHIR Standard 

 

CorePoint certification (within 60 days of hire) Preferred
