Description

From the Nueva Pescanova Group, we are looking for a Seafood Procurement Supervisor in Ireland (Castletownbere, Cork), reporting to the Country Manager in Eiranova.

About the role:

The procurement supervisor will be responsible for developing and strengthening the company’s seafood sourcing network in Ireland, while also supporting the commercial development of Group products in Ireland and the UK.

The role will combine local procurement, supplier development, market intelligence and commercial support, with a strong focus on field presence and relationship building within the Irish seafood sector.

Main responsibilities

  • Identify, visit and develop seafood suppliers across Ireland.
  • Build and maintain relationships with ports, vessels, processors, seafood operators and traders.
  • Develop sourcing opportunities in frozen-at-sea prawns, monkfish tails, shellfish, fresh fish and other local seafood categories.
  • Monitor market prices, product availability, seasonality and quality.
  • Negotiate purchasing conditions with suppliers.
  • Coordinate product samples, specifications and technical documentation when required.
  • Assess supplier reliability, traceability, quality standards and service level.
  • Maintain an updated supplier database and provide regular market intelligence.
  • Identify new seafood sourcing opportunities aligned with business needs.
  • Support the commercial team with local market knowledge and procurement information.
  • Support sales opportunities for Group products in Ireland and the UK.
  • Help introduce vannamei, Argentine red shrimp and other Group products to new customers outside the current portfolio.
  • Contribute to margin improvement through better sourcing, stronger supplier relationships and improved market positioning.
  • Report regularly on sourcing opportunities, supplier performance, market risks and business development progress.

What would we like to hear from you?

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in seafood purchasing, sourcing or commercial activities within the seafood industry.
  • Good knowledge of the Irish seafood market and supplier network is a must.
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers and building long-term relationships.
  • Ability to identify sourcing opportunities and monitor market trends.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and basic reporting tools.
  • Proficient in English required.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across Ireland.
