Billing & Payroll Team Lead | Brooklyn, NY · $150k/Year
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership role running the day-to-day of a billing and payroll team within a large healthcare organization spanning many departments that bill for a variety of services. Reporting to a CFO who oversees the broader operation, you'll lead the reps who handle medical billing and the staff who field payroll questions from employees — while staying in the details yourself. You'll chase down lost billings, manage payroll escalations, and be the person who answers when an employee flags they were overpaid or underpaid by a few dollars. If you know healthcare and medical billing and know how to lead a team without stepping back from the work, this one's for you.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead the billing and payroll team day to day, staying hands-on
- Support billing reps and payroll staff across many departments
- Report to the CFO overseeing the overall operation
Billing
- Chase down lost or outstanding billings
- Apply medical billing expertise across a range of services and departments
Payroll
- Handle payroll escalations and resolve discrepancies
- Answer employee questions on overpayment or underpayment, down to the dollar
Qualifications
- Experience with healthcare and medical billing
- Proven ability to lead a team while staying hands-on
- Strong attention to detail and comfort resolving payroll discrepancies
