Description
Join us, be part of more.
We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that’s energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently – we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it and mend it.
About your team:
At Centrica Energy, our mission is to move it.
We’re energy movers by nature. We’re a global renewable energy trading company which helps move energy from source to use – powering businesses, homes, and societies as they transition to a new sustainable energy future. If the idea of working to create a sustainable energy future also moves you, we may very well be the right place for you.
Join a team that keeps critical business services running smoothly and helps shape how technology is operated across Centrica Energy. Within RET&O (Renewable Energy Trading & Optimisation) Operations, we focus on reliability, operational excellence, service management, and continuous improvement, ensuring that systems supporting energy trading and Route to Market processes remain stable, secure, and resilient.
As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in safeguarding service quality, reducing operational risk, driving automation, and supporting our ongoing IT Service Management maturity journey. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy bridging technology, operations, and business needs, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
About RET&O Operations
RET&O Operations acts as the operational backbone of the Route to Market and Energy Trading landscape. We work across development teams, platform teams, and business stakeholders to ensure services are reliable, well governed, and continuously improving.
Our mission extends beyond incident response. We help define how services are operated, support change and service management processes, improve operational transparency, reduce manual work through automation, and drive operational excellence across the organisation. Through close collaboration with both business and technology teams, we help ensure that critical services can scale safely and reliably as the business evolves.
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the stability, reliability, and operational effectiveness of essential services within RET&O Operations. You will contribute across incident management, service management, access governance, operational support, and automation initiatives while helping mature our ITSM capabilities.
Acting as a key link between technical teams, business stakeholders, and end users, you will help ensure services are operated efficiently, support processes are effective, and operational risks are proactively managed.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Monitor system health and performance using operational dashboards and tools.
Respond to incidents, support root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions.
Collaborate with service owners to improve reliability, operational readiness, and reduce operational risk.
Maintain and optimize operational processes, including incident, change, problem, and request management.
Support and manage access management processes for critical business platforms, ensuring compliance, security, and efficiency.
Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual operational tasks and improve service delivery.
Support the development and maturity of IT Service Management practices, including service catalogues, service reporting, SLAs, and operational governance.
Contribute to operational reporting, service performance analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Document operational procedures and ensure compliance with standards.
About You
You are proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about operational excellence. You enjoy solving problems, improving processes, and finding opportunities to remove manual work through automation.
You thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy working with both technical and business stakeholders to improve how services are delivered and operated. You bring hands-on IT experience and understand how modern systems, integrations, and operational processes function in real-world environments.
We are looking for someone with:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
A background in IT Operations, Service Management, Application Support, Service Desk, or other relevant IT disciplines.
Experience with monitoring tools and operational dashboards.
Knowledge of Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, and IT Service Management processes.
Experience working with service support processes, operational governance, or end-user support services.
Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
Working knowledge of ITIL principles and service management best practices.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Comfortable working under pressure in fast-paced environments.
