Union Volunteer Emergency Squad, Inc. generates revenues for services provided by billing patients and third party providers. The Billing Specialist is an integral component of our organization supporting the care provided to Town of Union community during the provision of Emergency Medical Services by our Certified providers through the consistent utilization of high-quality customer service.
Primary Description-
The Billing Specialist in charge of Claims Processing is primarily responsible for all activity during the initial claims generation phase of the processing cycle.

Qualifications:
Experience
- Two years' experience working in a medical office environment with an emphasis on accounting, billing, administrative/medical assistance, data entry
- Candidate should have a basic understanding of third party insurances with the ability to discuss pertinent billing information with insurance companies and patients in a professional manner.
- Experience as an EMT desired
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university; or equivalent related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, desired (Preferred areas of study: EMS Management, Healthcare Administration, Business Management, Accounting, or Finance).
Certifications/Licenses
- Current NYS Certification at or above EMT-Basic desired
- Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
- Current NYS Operator's License or ability to obtain in 30 days.
- Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) or ability to obtain within one year
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) desired
