Illuminate USA is seeking an energetic and innovative Technical Trainer to inspire and elevate our technical workforce at our new Pataskala, Ohio facility. Reporting to the Technical Training Supervisor, this role is all about creating impactful programs that promote safety, drive production excellence, and foster a culture of collaboration and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver hands-on and classroom-based training on equipment operation, changeovers, routine maintenance, and safety procedures.
Train new hires and existing employees on equipment-specific SOPs, lockout/tagout (LOTO), TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and troubleshooting techniques.
Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations teams to develop and refine training content for existing and new equipment.
Ensure training is aligned with OSHA, ISO, and internal safety and quality policies.
Assist in creating and updating technical training documentation, including work instructions, job aids, checklists, and visual guides.
Evaluate employee skill levels and recommend additional training or certification where needed.
Observe operators and technicians during production to ensure proper application of learned skills.
Track training completion and maintain accurate records using the Learning Management System (LMS) or other tracking tools.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by incorporating lean principles and best practices into training programs.
Provide feedback to the Technical Training Supervisor on training effectiveness, challenges, and areas for improvement.
What You’ll Bring
High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
2+ years of experience operating or maintaining manufacturing equipment in a production environment.
Previous experience delivering on-the-job or technical instruction is a plus.
Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude with the ability to explain technical processes clearly.
Familiarity with common industrial equipment (e.g., CNC, PLCs, robotics, conveyors, hydraulic/pneumatic systems).
Effective communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools; experience with LMS platforms is a plus.
Able to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and adapt to different learning styles.
OSHA 10/30 certification or experience with LOTO and machine safety protocols.
Experience with ATW Soldering machines, automation, Kukka robots a plus.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
