Cost AccountantJob Description Summary
At Dauch, our Cost Accountants directly support the controller in carrying out responsibilities of the finance department. Cost Accountants determine and implement cost-accounting procedures and methods, prepare and analyze cost reports and audits, and examine unusual cost records to ensure data is allocated accurately.Job Description:
- Determine and implement cost accounting procedures and methods aligned with industry best practices.
- Prepare and analyze cost reports and conduct regular costing audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Examine unusual cost records and ensure proper allocation of cost data across departments and products.
- Establish standard costs for new products in collaboration with engineering and production teams.
- Monitor and report on cost variances, including material, labor, and overhead.
- Perform accounting for price variances and overhead recovery on a regular basis.
- Provide detailed analysis of cost drivers and trends to support operational efficiency and profitability.
- Assist in preparing financial reports and forecasts related to cost performance.
- Work closely with manufacturing, purchasing, and engineering teams to understand cost structures and changes, ensuring requisitions are properly coded.
- Support internal audits and external financial reviews related to cost accounting.
- Other relevant duties as assigned
Required Skills and Education
Completed Bachelors degree with major in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance or related field
2+ years experience in a finance role within a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and overhead allocation
