ATFM Analyst / Strategist

Based in the Washington, D.C. corridor, CGH supports government, commercial, and international clients with management consulting, software development, infrastructure and facilities support, and program management for large, complex operational environments.

CGH has an exciting opportunity for an Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) Analyst / Strategist to join our team supporting the FAA's PERTI program.

Position Overview

The ATFM Analyst / Strategist provides operational analysis, advanced planning, and customer support for the PERTI contract. This position works closely with FAA personnel, aviation stakeholders, meteorologists, field facilities, and other operational partners to analyze conditions across the National Airspace System (NAS), identify potential constraints, and support the development and communication of strategic traffic management plans.

This is a mission-critical position supporting a 24/7/365 operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and support OPS and PERTI webinars.
  • Review, analyze, and maintain OPSNET, NAS Daily, and other operational reports.
  • Analyze weather products, Technical Operations data, system impact reports, traffic demand, and other potential constraints to develop PERTI advanced planning content.
  • Collaborate with National Aviation Meteorologists to review forecast en route and terminal conditions, outlooks, maps, and potential operational impacts.
  • Develop, review, and conduct daily collaborative advanced planning webinars and supporting PDF materials.
  • Prepare, finalize, distribute, and upload advanced planning documents to FAA systems and websites.
  • Provide direct support to the National Operations Manager (NOM) and Planner during planning webinars, including presentation preparation, slide updates, call-list management, log entries, and advisories.
  • Coordinate with NAV CANADA regarding potential constraints, CAN routes, and other cross-border operational considerations.
  • Manage Zoom webinar registration, information sharing, attendee reporting, and scheduling.
  • Coordinate with field facilities, airlines, aviation representatives, and DDSO offices regarding SIRs, construction, weather, and other events that may affect NAS operations.
  • Coordinate with ATCSCC Space Operations regarding launch and recovery activities, including potential NAS impacts, NOTAM information, and development of supporting graphics.
  • Conduct VACAPES next-day planning conferences with ZDC, Giantkiller, ZBW, and ZNY when required.
  • Develop materials and participate in weekly CADENA web conferences.
  • Prepare daily summaries of significant NAS activity.
  • Provide same-day, prior-day, next-day, historical, demand, and Traffic Management Initiative (TMI) analysis in response to operational needs and ad hoc NOM requests.
  • Compile and complete the daily PERTI plan review and distribute it to appropriate stakeholders and managers.
  • Provide training and briefings to new NTMOs on PERTI responsibilities, tools, processes, and planning fundamentals.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and mentoring to NTMOs training on operational planner and PERTI responsibilities.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of operational and planning tools, processes, and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • 3+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience in an Analyst/Strategist or related role.
  • Experience supporting complex, time-sensitive aviation or operational environments is preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline preferred.

Technical & Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to review, interpret, and communicate operational and technical information.
  • Ability to analyze multiple sources of data and translate findings into clear, actionable planning information.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • U.S. Citizen or person with valid U.S. Work Visa who has lived in the U.S. for three or more years.
  • Must be available for shift work (day, swing, evening) as the team operates 24x7x365, including holidays.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Must be highly organized, reliable, and possess excellent time-management skills.
  • Must be a team player with a proactive work style.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform effectively in a fast-paced, mission-critical operational environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with government customers, operational personnel, and aviation industry stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear, and use a computer, keyboard, and mouse for several hours each day.

Occasional light lifting of up to 10 pounds may be required.

Government Eligibility

Candidates selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.

Compensation

The hiring range for this position is $150K - $160K/year based on relevant experience and position requirements as determined by the customer parameters.
