Our client, a leading luxury resort group, is seeking an accomplished Marine Engineer to oversee and elevate the full spectrum of marine operations across their island properties. This pivotal role is responsible for planning, directing, and managing all marine maintenance activities to ensure the optimal performance, safety, and availability of the resort’s vessel fleet.
You will provide hands‑on leadership to Marine Mechanics and the wider marine team, ensuring guest‑facing and service areas remain in impeccable working order and appearance. The role also leads renovation, expansion, and special projects within the marine function, maintaining alignment with corporate policies, international standards, local regulations, and environmental requirements.
A key contributor to the resort group’s strategic planning, the Marine Engineer assists in preparing capital, operating, and utility budgets, and drives departmental performance to achieve financial and operational targets. You will manage marine service contracts, supervise contractors, and ensure all maintenance—preventive, corrective, and demand—is executed to the highest standards to support seamless, trouble‑free guest experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts walk-through and visually assesses the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical aspects of the Marine operations and Vessels, public spaces, all mechanical, electrical and other related equipment.
- Maintain a Maintenance and Service record on all Boats and Sea Carrying Vessels.
- Ensures carrying out of weekly checks on all Boats/Yacht engines with Boat Captains & Guest Transport Managers.
- Schedule periodic machine overhauls and the servicing of all electrical, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, water, and sewage systems(on the vessel applicable)
- Oversee assignments and projects and verify completion of all preventive and corrective maintenance of all Sea Going Vessels.
- Maintains an adequate supply of spare parts for all boat engines.
- Train and support Marine Mechanics in correct Engineering practices with regards to Engine Repairs and rebuilding.
- Hires, trains, supervise and disciplines department staff and all other staff under responsible direction.
- Adheres to all Corporate required purchasing policies and controls, to include all outside contractor bids, budgets and schedules and analyze feedback from administration departments to maintain economical boat operations.
- Assist to assure the delivery of quality, cost effective maintenance services to resort guests and all operating and administrative departments.
- Assists to assure achievement of the financial objectives for the maintenance and Guest Transport Department.
- Proactively plan preventive maintenance by scheduling periodic machine overhauls and the servicing of all electrical, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, water, and sewage systems. Utilize the designated budgets accordingly to ensure all vessels are fully operational and maintained
REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent knowledge of Sea going Vessels Engines, public construction and building systems; all related permits, licensing, new existing codes and classification or Vessels Operating Manuals for preventative maintenance and equipment and Navigation pertaining to Sea worthiness and fire safety.
- Degree in Mechanical, Marine and Electrical Engineering with electronics, Kinematics, Thermodynamics and Energy, or any other combination of education, training, or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and computer-based design programs in addition to associated tools for engineering
- Ability to work in an industrial setting which includes walking, climbing, bending, and wearing appropriate safety gear
- Ability to comprehend and analyze technical and complex documents and drawings
- Must be organized, be able to work under pressure and within time constraints when the situation occurs. Adequate management skills, in particular in working with different nationalities, are essential for a role at this senior level
- Five years’ experience in the marine engineering.
- In possession of a Fire and Safety, basic First Aid Certificate.
- Should have a Marine Class 1 Certificate of Competency
- Ability to remain informed on state-of-the-art developments affecting the safe and effective operation of the seagoing vessels, equipment and facilities.
- Ability to analyze all associated systems as to their design, intent, and effective performance.
- Ability to positively communicate and instruct employees, offering assistance in areas where they lack knowledge, skills and experience. Able to rephrase, or "translate" fairly technical information into terms in which a lay person may easily understand.
