We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role focuses on the design, development, and validation of software for embedded Linux environments, with a strong emphasis on code reliability, scalability, and reusability. The Embedded Software Engineer will contribute to the development of programmable electronic controllers used in a variety of industrial applications and will collaborate closely with international engineering teams to deliver high-quality embedded solutions.
This job is based in Belluno, Italy, and regular on-site presence is required.
Salary: €40,000 - €45,000 gross annual salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
- Develop, document, test, and maintain software applications for embedded Linux environments.
- Participate actively in code reviews and contribute to software design and architecture discussions.
- Improve and support continuous integration (CI) processes to increase build efficiency and deployment automation.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, perform debugging activities, and improve software performance.
- Contribute to the architecture and design of new embedded products and software platforms.
- Implement reliable, reusable, and maintainable software solutions following software development best practices.
- Support the integration of software with internally developed hardware platforms and programmable controllers.
- Translate business and technical requirements into effective software solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation, design specifications, and validation records.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to software development processes, tools, and product innovation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of the C programming language and embedded software development principles.
- Experience developing software in Linux embedded environments.
- Knowledge of multithreaded programming and inter-process communication (IPC).
- Understanding of Linux kernel architecture and device drivers.
- Experience working with Git version control systems.
- Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions and software designs.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts and secure software development practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Advanced English language skills (written and verbal).
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with embedded Linux distributions such as Yocto or Buildroot.
- Knowledge of Rust programming language.
- Experience with the Zephyr Project or other real-time operating systems.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, MQTT, or similar.
- Experience contributing to software architecture decisions for embedded products.
- Ability to work effectively in an international and distributed development environment.
- Proactive attitude, adaptability, and willingness to continuously develop technical competencies.
